Essex Lookup Requests / St Mary's Cemetry, Mistley, Essex query
« on: Wednesday 13 October 21 19:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,

Thank you for reading my query.

Do you know if any old headstones from the 1700's still exist (and are readable) at St Mary's in Mistley?
Do you know if these headstones have been transcribed anywhere?
          - Billion graves has 13 headstones relating to military people but not the full graveyard done.
          - findagrave dont have them :(

I think my 4x great grandparents were buried there, Hannah Dyer buried 1765 and Samuel Francis Dyer buried in 1771. There are not a lot of sources for this couple back then; so exploring the long shot possibility that a gravestone might give any further information.

Thank you for reading

Best wishes

Suffolk Lookup Requests / marriage lookup at archives request
« on: Tuesday 15 June 21 17:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, thank you for reading my post.

I have unfortunately misplaced a photocopy of a marriage register entry, that I now very much need. As I want to compare the groom's signature (this us his second marriage) to what I believe is his first marriage. None of the online transcriptions show the original image unfortunately :(

The marriage is question is Robert Dyer and Peggy Sherman in Ufford, Suffolk in 1773.

Thank you kindly for reading this post and to the kind soul willing to help on this request.

Best wishes and stay safe

Essex Lookup Requests / Marriage Lookup Request - 1761 Tolleshunt D'Arcy
« on: Sunday 13 June 21 14:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi All, thank you for taking an interest in my request.

I am really hoping that someone with easy access to Essex archives or a Essex search subscription, might be extremely kind in looking up a marriage for a brick wall ancestor of mine and this lookup may help me to break down this break wall.

What I am needing is a picture of the original marriage register entry as I am hoping to match the groom's signature with a later marriage to prove this is his first marriage, the transcript can be seen on FindMyPast, ancestry and freereg already but does not show the image.

The groom is Robert Dyer, the marriage was the 26th of Feb 1761 in Tolleshunt D'arcy, the bride was Rebecca Argent, one transcription said the married by Banns but another said by license. I believe they married by license and neither were resident in this parish. Robert later on was a vicar in this parish.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Dyer-10389 - His biography for further information - he was an unsual character

Robert also had a daughter named Mary Dyer born in 1762 in Essex, I have never been able to find her baptism on FindMyPast, ancestry, family search, freereg but i hoped one day to also double check Tolleshunt D'arcy from 1759-1763 for her baptism and/or a baptism of an older sibling (as a license marriage at a young age may have meant the couple had a child arrive very soon after the marriage).

Robert's first wife who may have been Rebecca died before 1773 when Robert married his second wife in Suffolk and was described in that marriage as a widow.

Best Wishes, Take Care and thank you for reading

Hi All,

I have a relative by the name of Philip Weston, who was born around 1945 in Chelmsford, Essex, England and died in October 1965 or 1966 in Vancouver Canada in a car crash.  I have done a general CA google search and looked in the BC newspaper archives but haven't been able to find out any further information. Does anyone else have any sources they could check?

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Lookup Request - Kersey Parish or Poll Book - VINCE
« on: Monday 02 November 09 21:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,

Thankyou for reading my post. I have found the baptism's of 7 children belonging to my family on the IGI site. I was reallying hoping someone would be able to look up these people in teh Kersy parish register or the father of the family in the Kersey poll book though am not sure wehther he would qualify. The family are

James Vince b, abt 1753 Kersy & Susannah Martin b. abt 1760. James didnt die till 1839 so I have a possible death certificate and am really hoping that his job may be on one of the childrens baptism so I can check its the right person. (There were several James Vince's in Kersey around this time.

The children were

James bap 3/10/1779 Kersey
James bap 3/06/1781 Kersey
Susan bap 16/06/1782 Kersey
John bap 25/01/1784 Kersey
Martin cant find bap but buried in feb 1787
Martin bap 6/04/1787
Mary bap Jan 1791

Also does anyone know of a particular disease that was prevelent in Suffolk around the time these people were born as out of 7 children only 1 lived to adulthood!

Kind Regards

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Lookup Request - St George's Hanover Sq
« on: Wednesday 21 October 09 21:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Thank you for reading my post. I have details of my many times great grandparents marriage which took place on the 18th Jan 1801 between Robert Dyer & Wilhelmina Mary Ann Snow at St George's Hanover Square. However I received this information from a distant cousin many years ago so cannot fully verify this. I was hoping if someone had easy access to this record they could check if the above is correct and if any further information was given such as either of the father's names, but anything would be useful. This line hit a brick wall so many years ago its crazy and as I'm at the opposite side of the country so its been proving very difficult for me to get the Westminster archives.

Kind Regards

I am needing to find out when/how he became a British subject. I have a Britsh passport for him from the 70's and his service records which also say born canada but a british subject. I am hoping he stayed Canadian until after 1951? Any help about how to find out would be appreciated
