Armed Forces / Help needed to identify uniform, please
« on: Tuesday 09 August 22 20:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

Would anyone out there happen to know what regiment the man (my great-uncle) in the photograph might have belonged to? The hat seems quite distinctive, but my military knowledge is not sufficient for me to be able to identify it.

Huge thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help.

Steve

Sussex / Are the East Sussex electoral registers available online
« on: Monday 11 July 22 21:57 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone. I'm struggling to find an online resource anywhere that will tell me which county electoral registers have been digitised (and, if they have, which site they are available on) and which have not yet been. I'm trying to find those for East Sussex in the 1920s and 1930, but as far as I can tell they are not yet on Ancestry or Findmypast. Does anyone know?

Thanks very much in advance.

Hi everyone. Does anyone know if there is a way to browse the 1921 census to see who else was living on a street either side of the specific house you are interested in? I don't really need or want to pay the £2.50 fee on Findmypast to view each and every record; I just wanted to review who else lived there to get a sense for what trades etc. were prevalent on my grandparents' road at the time.

Thanks in advance for any tips or pointers anyone can give.

World War Two / Second World War - professional researcher sought
« on: Friday 08 April 22 00:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone might be able to recommend the services of a really good, specialist researcher who would be able to look into my grandfather's service record and produce a good narrative account? I work a full-time job and have a young family, and am being honest with myself that with the best will in the world, I'm not going to have the time to do a proper job of it myself. If anyone has any recommendations, I would be most grateful. Thank you. :)

Hi everyone,

This is my first post to the forum in some considerable time - I hope you are all well.

I'm hoping that someone out there with knowledge of 1940s fashion might be able to help me describe the outfit that my grandmother was wearing at her wedding that year. I have absolutely no knowledge of how to describe an outfit, particularly a lady's one!

The reason I ask is that I am writing an account of my grandparents' lives and I have reached the year of their marriage. I know next to nothing about their actual wedding day, but we have some lovely photos, and it occurred to me that one thing I could do would be to write about what my Grandma wore that day. Is there anyone out there who could help? I attach a couple of photos here.

Equally, if anyone out there might happen to know the make and model of the car in the attached picture, I would love to know that too. :)

Thanks so much in advance.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Dating photos of old lady
« on: Tuesday 22 January 13 20:18 GMT (UK)  »
I'd really like to work out when these photos of the same old lady were taken - I think they are some time apart. Please could someone help me to put a date to these photos. (I find the one that appears to have ben taken on a weighing machine quite funny - she doesn't look amused!) Thanks!
