Surrey Completed Look up Requests / John and Anita Carr, Esher
« on: Saturday 12 June 10 16:17 BST (UK)  »
My ancestor Eunice Baker was employed as a cook with John and Anita Carr at Broughton, Esher in 1911.
Can any one help me locate this property as there is no road name associated with it. In addition I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the company Peche Firm Co Ltd of which John Carr is listed as the Managing Director in the 1911 Census.
Fingers crossed someone is familiar with this location.
Thank you.

Devon / Bishops Tawton and Barnstaple property
« on: Tuesday 22 September 09 16:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I am trying to locate a dwelling or group of dwellings owned by John Jerritt and auctioned off in 1843. If any one has any information or can direct me to an old map or picture I would be very grateful. The property was known as Rumsam House in Rumsam, Bishops Tawton. Is it still standing?

My second interest is the history of 98 High Street, Barnstaple where Johns wife Fanny Jeanes Jerritt lived after the auction of Rumsam until her death in 1863, the census tell me it was used as a Day school, any information and pictures would be wonderful.

Thank you,
Karen

Pembrokeshire / Lydstep Palace, Penally
« on: Friday 04 September 09 13:48 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking to find out more information regarding Lydstep Palace. My relative Charles Rodwell, a carpenter, lived there from around 1891 and is shown still residing there in 1911 census.  It sounds very grand but my brief research seems to suggest otherwise. Can anyone tell me a bit more about the type of person who would typically inhabit such a dwelling. Charles had previously lived in Pembroke Dock and was a Bombardier in the Royal Artillery, he was I believe English.

Thank you,

Karen

Hi,

Can anyone enlighten me as to where Ivy Place in Old Heath Colchester was?
The address has come up in the 1911 census and I have no idea where it was or is despite being a Colchester girl. Any clues would be helpful.

Thank you.

Hi,

Can anyone tell me where Union Place in Great Horkesley was situated?  My Grandmother lived there in 1901 but I can't locate it on any maps.  Was it connected with a Workhouse?

I hope someone can enlighten me.

Many thanks,

Karen

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Taylor - Pulham
« on: Tuesday 21 March 06 22:35 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to locate George Henry Taylor born 1816 prior to 1871 census.
He was born in Pulham and married a Susannah born 1830 from Lynn.  In 1871 they were living in Northampton with 3 children all born in that region, George, Ann Elizabeth and Harriet. I am also keen to learn what Susannah's maiden name was.
I look forward to any clues.

Essex / Southend looking for Hawes-Hall
« on: Monday 02 January 06 17:26 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone who has access to the Southend electoral roll help me.

My Grandmother Phyllis had a daughter in 1930 her birth certificate states her father as Frederick George Hawes- Hall, Music Hall artist of 5 Toledo Road, Southend.  The certificate stated that my Gran was Hawes-Hall formally Rodwell.  I can find no record of any Hawes-Hall's at all or her marriage to Frederick. Could she have given a false name to the Registrar to appear married?  My Gran was born in 1910 in Wales.  Absolutely any information regarding this puzzle would be helpful.

Thank you
