Hello,

Please could someone with access to the microfiche/images of St. Lawrence, Warkworth parish records lookup the following three events for me.  I'm interested in any additional information on the records.

Baptism Elizabeth Brown 27 Dec 1818. This is transcribed as Elizabeth Brocon on FreeReg. Is this a mistranscription? I have parents names George and Ellen, abode Warkworth, George was a shepherd. FreeReg doesn't give date of birth, although I have 15 Nov 1818 from somewhere (wasn't always good at keeping sources).

Baptism William Brown (my 3xGreat Grandfather) 12 Jan 1812. This one is on FamilySearch but not FreeReg (seems to be a gap early 1811 to early 1813, no Johns, Williams, Elizabeths or Marys). FamilySearch just gives father's name George. Again, I have date of birth 17 Sep 1811 from somewhere.

Marriage of George Brown and Eleanor/Ellen Smart 19 May 1811. From FamilySearch, no additional info.

I'm trying to improve George and family's profiles on WikiTree:

Thanks,

James

Hello,

We're looking for the death or burial of my Great Great Grandfather.  He was know as William Atkinson Hutchinson and was born in c. 1853 (yet to find birth or baptism) in Wapping, Burnmoor, County Durham before his parents John Hutchinson and Elizabeth Atkinson were married in 1854.

He is on the 1911 census in Throckley with his second wife Esther.

My grandmother said she remembered him from when she was a child (not sure how old), she was born in 1921, and thought he was buried at Newburn parish church in Northumberland.

There are several William Hutchinson on the GRO index of around the right age who died in the 1910s to 1930s.  A burial in Newburn would help point us to the right one.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

James

Hello all,

We think we may have found my wife's 5 x Great Grandmother Sarah Funnell on the 1841 and 1851 census having remarried after the death of her first husband John Sherwood/Sharewood.

The household in 1851 in Robertsbridge contains:

John Waklin,Head,49,Ag Lab,Salehurst,Sussex
Sarah Waklin,Wife,64,Marden,Kent
John Carey,Grandson,13,Apprentice Tailor,Robertsbridge,Sussex

John Carey Sherwood (b. 1837) is the older brother of my wife's 3 x Great Grandfather (Samuel George Carey, b. 1841)). John's baptism record suggests he was born before his parents were married (if indeed they ever were).

John and Sarah Wakilin are also together on the 1841 census in Salehurst.

We can't find anything online (Ancestry and various Sussex sites), please could someone have a look for the following things for us:
* A marriage of Sarah Sherwood/Sharewood (nee Funnell) to a John Wak(i/e)lin somewhere between 1825 and 1841 in Sussex (likely Salehurst, Robertsbridge, Hastings).
* A death/burial of John Sherwood/Sharewood between 1824 and 1841 (same places).
* A marriage of John Carey and Frances Sherwood/Sharewood roughly between 1837 and 1841 (same places).

This is Sarah Funnell on our WorldConnect Tree:

Sussex Lookup Requests / Margaret Watson burial 1838 in Rye *COMPLETED*
« on: Saturday 23 May 15 10:29 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

There is a burial record partial transcription on Ancestry for a Margaret Watson on 30th May 1838 in Rye.  There is also a corresponding death record in the same quarter (spelt Margaritt).

Before I pay for a death certificate, please could someone with access to the parish records for Rye see if there is any additional information on the burial record (e.g. spouse, abode, age).  I'm hoping she's aged 68 and the wife/widow of John Watson (I can't find his death).

Thanks,

James

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Skipton - Marriage 1829 Walker-Foster
« on: Monday 11 January 10 20:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all,

I believe the marriage on the IGI of William Walker to Jane Foster on 10th September 1829 in Skipton in Craven is that of my 3x Great Grandparents.

Please could someone with access to the records let me have a full transcript.  I'm interested to see whether their parishes, status, ages and even parents are given.

Thanks,

James

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / John Knott Christened 1795
« on: Thursday 05 April 07 11:40 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

We have a date of Christening from a website for John Knott of 19th April 1795 at St Nicholas Church, North Stoneham, Hampshire.  Can anyone confirm this from the records and give us the parents' names?

Thanks in advance,

James

Hello,

Benjamin Salisbury born c1855 in St Helier, Jersey was my wife's Great Great Great Grandfather.  From the 1861 census until he left home he lived with his Uncle Henry Salisbury at St Peter Port, Guernsey, so we do not know his mother's or father's name.  If anyone can look him up in the St Helier parish records, that would be great.

Also, the marriage of Benjamin Salisbury to Elizabeth Brock sometime between 1873 and 1876 in St Peter Port would be great.  He was living there in 1871 and so was she in 1881, although she was born in France.  Their first child was born in Oct 1876 in St Peter Port.

Thanks in advance,

James

Channel Islands Lookup Requests / Gilles Family in Guernsey
« on: Sunday 01 January 06 22:08 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all,

We'd be very greatful if anyone has any info on the following family:

Francois Adolphus Gilles (b. 1852, France)
married Adele Pauline Josephine Henlard (b. 1855, France), we don't know when or whether in France or Guernsey.

They had the following children:
François Désiré Henri Gilles (1875, Vale, Guernsey)
Adele M.L. Gilles (1876, St Sampsons, Guernsey)
Jules A.L. Gilles (1878, Guernsey)
Margueritte M.A. Gilles (1879, St Peter Port, Guernsey)
Marie Rosalie Louise Gilles (28th Jun 1884, St Peter Port, Guernsey)
Arthur Gilles (1885, St Peter Port, Guernsey)
Camille Gilles (1887, St Peter Port, Guernsey)
Cabrielle Gilles (1890, St Peter Port, Guernsey)
Armandine Gilles (1891, St Peter Port, Guernsey)

Any baptism records would be useful and obviously their marriage would be great but may have happened in France.

We have the family on the 1881,1891 and 1901 censuses at Bordage, St Peter Port.

Thanks,

James

Hello all,

Why do I get the message "It seems that you are not allowed to download or view attachments on this board." when viewing posts?

This includes my own posts where the attachment is an image which was originally displayed directly in the post itself.

E.g. http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=21078

Can anyone else see the images in that thread?

James
