Shropshire Completed Look up Requests / Marriage of Milward & Milward 1968?
« on: Tuesday 07 May 13 19:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

Scratching my head over a marriage from 1968 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

John A V Milward married a Pamela W R MILWARD ???

Now I know it's possible that two 'different' Milward families 'came together' but can any kind soul please confirm that Pamela's maiden name was indeed 'Milward' ... or not?

... and, if so, then what were Pamela's parents names and where did they come from?

Many thanks, as always, in advance of anyones kind help on the matter.

Kind Regards

Radnorshire / Sarah Milward married ? Griffiths 1833
« on: Saturday 27 April 13 15:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

Another 'loop hole' in the family tree to resolve if anyone can be so kind please ...

Sarah Milward (b1804, Radnorshire) married a Griffiths in 1833 in Llanfihangel Nant Melan, Radnorshire. My first search gave me the name of 'Evan' Griffiths BUT there is a chance that it might be 'John' Griffiths ... can anyone help to identify the correct Griffiths please?

Also ...

Robert Milward born/baptised 1806, New Radnor, Radnorshire
Margaret Milward born/baptised 1808, New Radnor, Radnorshire
William Milward born/baptised 1811, New Radnor, Radnorshire

Can anyone please offer any help with regards to these people, there's no trace of them after their births/baptism dates?
A 'Margaret Griffiths' is a witness at a later 'Milward' wedding ... did Margaret also marry a Griffiths perhaps?

Many thanks as always in advance of any assistance or time spent looking.

Herefordshire / Maria Rhoda OR Rhoda Maria Milward b1878
« on: Friday 26 April 13 10:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

Question ... "What are we going to do about Maria?"  ;D

I have found a relative who, depending upon which records you use, can be either:
Maria Rhoda Milward OR Rhoda Maria Milward (I've also seen Millward ... with the two L's in the sirname)

Maria OR Rhoda was born in 1878 in Ross on Wye, Herefordshire. She married William S Jones in 1910 in Swansea, Wales ... but I cannot locate her in any 1911 census (to see if they had any children and the birth details of husband William S Jones).

Can anyone please offer any help with the 'missing' details for me?

Many many thanks in advance of any help.

Kind Regards

Radnorshire / Mary Milward born c1813 & Thomas Milward born c1817
« on: Thursday 25 April 13 23:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

I've come across a bit of a mystery with regards to three Milwards from Radnorshire, can anyone please advise on any of the following (details taken from 1841/51 census records):

Mary Anne Milward, born circa 1813, Radnor, Radnorshire, Wales.
Thomas Milward, born circa 1817, Llanfihangel Nant Melan, Wales.
... Both of the above first appear on the 1841 census along with John Milward (aged 70) and his wife, Sarah (aged 65) ... are Mary Anne and Thomas the children of John & Sarah? (I know ages were 'rounded up' in 1841).

Thomas Milward, born circa 1844, Llanfihangel Nant Melan, Wales.
... Is recorded in the 1851 census as a 'Nephew' of (and living with) the older Thomas (detailed above) - who are the parents of 'young' Thomas?

I'm hoping one of you kind persons will come to my rescue again, many thanks in advance of any help or information.

Kind Regards

Worcestershire / Edmund & Martha Milward, Pershore, Worcs c1850
« on: Wednesday 24 April 13 16:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone

I have an issue with regards to Martha Milward, wife of Edmund Milward, who were born and lived in Pershore, Worcs in the later 1800's.
Edmund was born in 1850. Martha (his wife) was born (depending on which census is accurate) between 1852-54 ... both of them, as previously stated, born in Pershore ... however ...

I just cannot find a marriage record for their marriage or what Martha's maiden name was? They married sometime between 1871-1881 ... Pershore would be the logical place but there's no guarantee on that.

My usual reliable source has let me down, could any kind person 'fill in the missing gaps' please.

Many thanks in advance.

Worcestershire / Elizabeth White & Jane Andrews - Pershore, Worcs
« on: Friday 12 April 13 17:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, something comes along and takes my 'brick wall' up even higher!!!!

The two ladies in the thread title were servants to a household in Pershore in the 1871 census, however, on the date of the census, the Head of the house and his wife are not recorded ... and a note reads "Head and wife from house, on a visit"????

Servants details ... Elizabeth White b1847, Pershore and Jane Andrews b1853, Pershore.

How can I find out WHO the head and wife were?

Please note that the message is only visable when viewing the actual document and that the recording of the document has 'rolled' two properties into one ... I don't believe that the two servants mentioned are connected to the 'Coombe family' as recorded.

The more I look into things, the more 'mess' I find ... Grrrr

Any help would be very welcome please ... many thanks.

Regards
Nimchimpsky

PS ... I've tried looking up both servants in the previous and following census records, needless to say they were 'elsewhere'.

Worcestershire Completed Look up Requests / Milward ... 1851 Census informtion?
« on: Friday 12 April 13 13:33 BST (UK)  »
Hi again all

Having hit a brick wall with the family tree, I decided to retrace my steps and work backwards to ensure that all infomation I had was 100% correct ... I now have an issue with regards to the 1851 England census.
What are the chances of a person being registered twice?
My interest is Thomas Milward (not the same Thomas as my previous message). Thomas was married to Emma (nee Broomhall) and had sons, John, Charles, Thomas and Edmund ... now, here comes the issue ...

The 1851 census shows the following entries:

Thomas Milward, born abt 1811 in Pershore, Worcestershire. Living with wife Emma, four sons (as named) and 'house staff'.
OR
Thomas Milward, born abt 1817 in Tenbury, Worcestershire. Living/Visiting? a Samuel & Elizabeth Milward (parents) ... amongst others in the house are Thomas's wife Emma and their son Edmund.

In both entries, Emma is the same age (within 12mths), Edmund is the same age (within 2mths) but Thomas's age differs by six years???

Is this Thomas the same person (he died in 1855, so there is no further evidence on census records) or are they two different people. IF they are two different people then I'd tend to be swayed by the Thomas born in 1817, Tenbury, Worcestershire. What concerns me most (and causes my doubt) is that one census would have been completed by Samuel, his father and the other census by Thomas himself ... one of them didn't know Thomas's birth date/place IF they are the same person.

Why do I have such a difficult family to trace, ha ha.

Many thanks in advance of any help.

Kind Regards

Worcestershire / Thomas Stanton Milward b1838 Pershore
« on: Thursday 11 April 13 12:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

Need to rule Thomas Stanton Milward b1838, Pershore, Worcestershire, in or out of the family.

He 'might' appear in one census as a grandson of one of my direct relatives (if it is him, then he is recorded as just Thomas Milward) ... the 'giveaway' could be his parents names, which I've had no such luck as yet.

Can anyone please confirm the parents of Thomas Stanton Milward, please.

Many thanks in advance of any help.

Kind Regards
