Graveyards and Gravestones / 59 Rusholme road cholton on medlock
« on: Saturday 20 January 24 11:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hello again.
This is going to sound strange.
I'm trying to find out who a caretaker of a cemetery lived and where the cemetery was.
The caretaker was called Thomas crossfield. I'm not sure if this address is anything to do with the cemetery.
I have an address 59 Rusholme road cholton on medlock. I can't seem to find out what the cemetery was called.

My mum told me that she visited her gran

And that one day my dad told her that he used to pass a cemetery dragging a stick across the gates tormenting a dog.
My mum said she told my dad it was her dog.
I shown my mum a photo of the cemetery.
She said it was that one  I can't seem to load the picture up.

If anyone please help me with the cemetery. I would really appreciate it.
Kind regards
Mrs Dorothy lucas
On my grandads marriage certificate it has the same address.
From what I can understand my great gran Frances worked for Mr crossfield.

Family History Beginners Board / I need help again please
« on: Tuesday 28 November 23 11:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hello again everyone.
As you know I've been trying to find out everything about my great grandfather Samuel Benjamin Cooper.
At the moment I'm trying to find out what he died of.
I'm a member of a group Manchester military 1914-18.
I've had a few comments.
But one of them was from my brother.

Unfortunately he can't send me anything via messenger he said because nothing is getting through.

From what I have been told. My great grandfather Samuel tried to join the army. But he was only in for 83 days.
He was classed as unfit.

My brother did this comment.

Dot E Lucas Because he lied about his age, he told them he was 34 but he was 10years older (44), also unfit for duty, that could well because of his work at the time, he was a Labourer at Bradford Colliery so it could be due to coal dust, lung problems or just a case of minor ailment, it'll just be guess work to try narrow it down to a specific cause, unless you can find his personal medical records from around that era, somehow I doubt they will exist, it might shine some light on it if you have a copy of his death certificate giving the cause of death, he might have a had a long suffering illness but again it'll only be guess work.

So now I'm trying to find his cause of his death.
I can't buy a copy of his death certificate. Because I only know his dob.

Please if anyone can help me.
I really would appreciate it.

Thank you all so much for your help with everything.
Kind regards Dorothy

Family History Beginners Board / I'm really confused with Ernest Lucas
« on: Monday 17 April 23 15:42 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone. I'm hoping someone can help me.
I'm really confused
I've been doing my husbands family tree for him. There's a confusing on something .
My husbands uncle is called Ernest Lucas. I think he was born November 1903. My hubby says he doesn't think his uncle Ernest Lucas passed away 1980s. He doesn't remember that.
As everyone knows that my hubby has a big family.
Recently I asked for a photo of the headstone of Ernest Lucas.
But the family on the stone my hubby doesn't recognise. Anyone.
It's possible that this Ernest Lucas isn't the correct one.

Please can anyone help me link up my hubbys family.
His father's name is Samuel Richard Lucas born 15th March 1915
He passed away 12th August 1999

Hopefully you might be able to see the headstone I've attached

Please can anyone help me.
I would appreciate any help possible.

Thank you so much for your time and help.
Kind regards
Dorothy

World War Two / Vincent Cooper Scarborough
« on: Saturday 01 April 23 21:14 BST (UK)  »
Hello again everyone.
I'm trying to work out something my mum told me a while ago. We were talking about my dad.
My dad was in the TA's he joined up when he was over 25.
What I'm trying to find out is this. My mum mentioned that my dad went to Scarborough.
What is baffleing me is. Was he on his way to Scarborough.

There's something else she mentioned
Apparently my dad and some of his regiment we're defending the beaches.
But when plane's few over they couldn't open fire on them. Because the pilots would know the soldiers were defending the town.
Something I don't understand.
Please can anyone help me with this.
I understand you can't help me with my mums conversation.
But maybe someone could explain the rest.
It's been baffleing me for such a long time.

My dad is Vincent Cooper. Born 27 September 1911.
This might help with the year my dad inlisted.

Thank you all again for your help.

Kind regards
Dorothy

Hello I'm hoping that someone can help me. I don't know if what I have been told is correct
I'm trying to find out if this soldier could have been my great grandfather.
Im not sure how to explain this as its very complicated.
My great gran Frances Jones brought up he son (my grandad on her own)
From what I have been told in the past my great gran Frances Jones wasn't married.
But recently it's been mentioned that she could have been and changed her name back to her maiden name.

This is the only information I have on the soldier I have. So I'm trying to find out if he was my great grandfather who could have been married to my great grandmother Frances

This is the details I have.
PRIVATE Alfred T Booth. From Manchester.
In the Cheshire regiment. Number 12872.
He was transferred to the 796 Labour corps number 400155 he died 2/1/1918 age 30
Im not sure if he is my great grandfather
But from what I can understand it's possible that my great gran Frances was expecting her son as his father was off to fight in the army.
My grandfather was born in September 1914.

If anyone can please help me with anything at all I would appreciate it. As I've often wondered about who my great grandfather was
Thank you all

Family History Beginners Board / My great grandfather's brother and family
« on: Monday 27 February 23 11:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hello again everyone. As you probably know that quite a few years ago I was looking for my family members.
I've recently been told that my great grandfather Cooper ( must be Samuel Benjamin) as we have known him as great grandfather Cooper.
Well apparently he had a brother who died along with his family. Who I believe have something to do with angels meadow. Apparently they lived at number 4 walkers croft. The only thing is I don't know what area. From what I've been told there are some steps and the building is still standing.

If anyone can help me with any of these I would really appreciate it.
My great grandfather Samuel Benjamin Cooper was married to isobela Cooper. They are the parents of my grandmother Mary Ann Cooper.

Thank you all so much for your help and your time.
Kind regards
Dorothy

Hello again.
I'm a bit lost. I'm trying to find out where where 2 boys were sent to a home I think it was something like style cottage I'm not sure. But these 2 boys were some how related to my great gran Frances Jones. From what I can understand is they were sent to this home because of family circumstances. The 2 boys stayed there until they were old enough to leave.
I can't remember there names.

Which is given me a thought.
Maybe my grandad Alfred Evan Jones was sent there later because his mum wasn't married from what my mum said many years ago her gran Frances had asked her employer if it was possible for her to have her son with her. She was asked how old her son was. She replied and said 15 years old. He was allowed to live with his mum.

So I've been trying to find out about these 2 boys and now the where abouts of my grandad Alfred Evan Jones from when he was born until he was 15 years old. If anyone can help me with these I would really appreciate it and I will be able to stop trying to figure it out.
As for the last few days it's been driving me daft.
So I thought I'd ask for help by the experts.
Thank you all again.
Kind regards
Dorothy

Technical Help / My computer
« on: Tuesday 07 February 23 13:08 GMT (UK)  »
Hello everyone.
This is new to me as I normally ask for help on family searches.
I'm having trouble with my computer. It was working fine until a few weeks ago.
I had just done a room up as a little office. But I hadn't checked my computer like I normally do.
I turned on the wall socket and my computer came on which was strange because I turned it off by its power button.
Ever since then I keep getting the message on my monitor saying power saving mode. Then my monitor goes off.
I've tried everything possible.
But I don't know what else to do.
I've even changed the monitor it still doesn't work. My base unit comes on.
It's the monitor. The little light comes up green and goes to yellow.
I can't use my keyboard to take my computer out of power saving mode. Because I need the monitor.
Can anyone please help.
Thank you everyone
