Hello everyone :)

I have posted before and received great help piecing together the various parts of this family for which I am most grateful. My question today revolves around 2 pedigrees that may connect at some point but currently appear to be at odds.

One is from Burkes' Peerage and the other from J. E. Griffith's 1914 Pedigree of Anglesey and Carnarvonshire Families. Hopefully, someone familiar with all this can help shed some light.

Burke's 1894 reads:

WILLIAMS OF DEUDRAETH CASTLE.

Lineage—

Gethin Wynne, of Saethon, who assumed the surname of Williams, was the son of Maurice Wynne, of Saethon, by Catherine his wife, dau. of Maurice Williams, of Hafodgarregog ; m. Jane, dau. of Robert Price, of Plasdu, and had a son, William Williams, of Saethon, ra. Eleanor, dau. of Arthur
Devereux, of Nantycribba, co. Montgomery, and had a son, Arthur Evans Williams, of Saethon, m. Elnaia, dau. of Eichard Anwyl, of Dolfiiog, co. Merioneth, and had a son, John Williams, of Saethon, m. 1748, Ann, dau. and co- heiress of Dafyd ap Griffith, of llendre, and d. 1796, leaving
a son, David Williams, Esq. of Saethon, who, by Jane his wife (whom he m. 19 May, 1790) had several sons and daus.

The 1914 pedigree ties John Williams to father William the son of Ann Trygarn the daughter of Richard Trygarn. John's wife also differs as she is identified as Anne Griffith in the 1894 publication as opposed to an Anne Davies in the 1914 pedigree.

1914 pedigree

Ann Jones d.1736 (aged 102!) daughter of Richard Trygarn d. 1666 aged 80 years
William Jones d. 1748 married 2x - first wife = Jonet ; second wife = Ann Hughes
John Williams 1713-1796 m. Anne Roberts d. of Robert Davies of Lonfydyr
David Williams of Saethon d.1823 marries Jane (Jones?) daughter of Capt. Edward Jones of Coed Marion.

Any help sorting out this mess is appreciated.

Diolch! :)

Bedfordshire / A hard nut to crack--- Elizabeth Mason and the Petty Family
« on: Saturday 31 October 15 16:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all :)

I have been knocking myself out trying to piece together a number of loose threads regarding the Petty family (relative to Bedfordshire, Huntingdonshire, and Oxfordshire) in the 17th and 18th centuries.

The main problem is my attempt to tie Elizabeth Mason d. 1736 to Samuel Petty d. 1732  her son via her first husband. I have no idea who the father was.

Samuel and his wife Elizabeth (maiden name possibly Lovett) had the following children:

male Petty 1707 Renhold, Bedfordshire
Eustace Petty 1711  Renhold, Bedfordshire
Frances Petty 1712 Renhold, Bedfordshire
Henrietta Maria 1714-
Samuel Petty 1715-1722
John Petty 1722
Samuel Petty 1722-1725

Elizabeth Mason's parish death record identifies her as Elizabeth Mason of Great Paxton but she is buried in Renhold.

Her 2nd husband was John Mason 1659-1726 of Great Paxton

She is also cited in some litigations available at KEW Archives

Hopefully someone can succeed where I have failed.

Apologies in advance...

I am looking for the resting place of Capt. Rees Jones Barrow 1830-1912 lived out his final years 1891-1912 at the Home for Aged Mariners.

I have no idea if he is buried at Rake Lane but thought it nearby his home and thus a likely location for his burial.

Any help is as always appreciated.

Cork / Help! Cork Marriage Record obtained but what church was used???
« on: Monday 13 July 15 17:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi all :)

I have the following record...

Name:   Robert Williams
Sex:   Male
Marriage:   1832
Marriage Place:   Diocese of Cork & Ross, County Cork, Ireland
Spouse:   Joanna Hurly
Source:   Albert Eugene Casey, Eleanor L. Downey-Prince, and Ursula Dietrich.. Index of O'Kief, Coshe Mange, Slieve Lougher and Upper Blackwater in Ireland. 16 vols. Birmingham, Alabama: Knocknagree Historical Fund, 1952-1971.

Now with the Catholic Registers released I would love to see a digital copy of the original. The man identified above is my 2x great grandfather (a Welshman) he married Johanna Hurly referenced in the record.

My 2x great grandfather worked as a Customs Officer assigned to Courtmacsherry. It was there that their son John was baptized in April 1835. I have a digital copy of John's baptismal record and would love to find the marriage record as well.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello all :)

I have in my possession a digital copy of an original that I am unable to access. The person in question is thought to be my 2x great grandmother Ann Susan Collins nee Petty (1829-1864). I managed to find the following regarding the photographer:

Miller, Joseph
Born 1842. Died 1923.
Biography
Miller, Joseph
Born in Wimborne, Dorset 1842.
Md Sophia (1850 - 1933).
STUDIOS: 1. 45 High Street, Camden Town, St Pancras 1881 - 1892.
2. 38 Brecknock Road, Camden Town, St Pancras 1892 - 1894. Successors to George Jennings; succeeded by Chatham Pexton.
1881: tobacconist living at 45 High Street, Camden Town, St Pancras.
1891: photographer living as above.
1901: photographer living at 19 Brecknock Road, St Pancras.
Died in St Pancras 1923.
Occupations

Tobacconist [list all] 1881

I am hoping the photo is Ann Susan circa 1862 and not a later 1880s photo of my great grandmother, Caroline Neale Harris nee Collins (1860-1921)

To my untrained eye the fashions seem to point to circa 1862 but thought I would submit it to a wider and more knowledgeable audience here.

Of  note: Ann Susan Collins was not particularly wealthy so a trip to London from Banbury, Oxfordshire may have been prohibitive. Daughter Caroline resided in Hampstead, London in 1881.

Opinions are gratefully welcomed :)

Hello :)

Hello all :)

Another lookup request.....

Julia Evans nee Williams (1841-1922) widow of the Reverend David Joshua Evans (1826-1884).

David is buried with first wife, Jane nee  Jones (d.1870) at The Church of St Ffraid. However, I see no record of Julia there.

Unfortunately I have no grave or plot number for Julia. I assume she was buried at Corwen as her place of death was The Cottage Corwen.

Julia is one of Robert Williams Esq. (1804-1869) daughters; Robert being the younger brother of David Williams esq., 1800-1869 MP for Merioneth 1868.

Any help is appreciated...

Hello all and as always a grateful "thank you" to the Rootschat community. This site has been invaluable in helping locate information on various family members.

Today I am looking for burial information on my great grandmother, Margaret Emma Williams nee Davies

Birth: 14 May 1856 in Everton, Lancashire, England
Death: 14 Dec 1904 in West Derby, Liverpool UK

Her husband, Master Mariner, David Williams was buried at Toxteth Park Cemetery in 1900 but I see no record or listing for her. Her address at time of death was  53 Esher Rd West Derby, Liverpool so about 5 cemeteries are within an hour of that location. She died at that address (home of her sister).

Any help in finding what cemetery she may be at is most appreciated.

Thanking you all in advance...
