Yorkshire (West Riding) / Meanwood, Leeds to Australia
« on: Saturday 16 October 10 03:24 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find information about a family (name not known) who settled near Albany, Western Australia.  There are roads which I am sure they named or had something to do with the naming such as Meanwood, Roundhay, Gledhow, Moortown roads. They would have been early pioneers, and I believe they had a family farm in Meanwood.     Any help would be appreciated.    Maureen

Somerset / Bath electoral rolls?
« on: Wednesday 03 February 10 04:49 GMT (UK)  »
Is it possible to check the electoral rolls for Bath from about 1903 to 1915?  I have been searching for my husbands g.grandparents and have now discovered them in 1911 in Bath.
Their names are Arthur Herbert Brown and Agnes Mabel Brown (nee Kenney).   Arthur appeared on the 1901 census living in Swansea Glamorgan and married Agnes in Swansea March 1903. They then went to Leeds for the birth of their son Arthur Baron Brown July 1903. Arthur was fostered out - but I don't know why.   I lost trace of them until the 1911 census.  They then had a daughter Doris Elvira born 1910.  My query is, where were they between 1903 and 1911 and did they stay in Bath.  Arthur Herbert Brown was born in Brooklyn, New York when his parents went to America about 1880, but were back in Bath and appeared in the 1891 census.   Any help would be appreciated.   Thanks, Maureen

Are there any possible relatives of George and Margaret Ann Smith still living in Durham?
I have a wedding photo of their daughter Annie Raine Smith and would like to know the names of the people in the picture.    Here's hoping  :)  Maureen

Yorkshire (West Riding) / HERRINGTON of Bingley.
« on: Friday 05 June 09 14:29 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for anyone who connects to a Richard Herrington who lived in Bingley in 1911 and was "married" to a Harriet Cartwright. They had two children, Willie C. Herrington and Fred Herrington. On the 1911 census there was a Jack Cartwright aged 3 living as a boarder with them. Willie Herrington married Gertrude P. Keyworth in Keighley, 1912. Maureen

Somerset / Is this him?
« on: Saturday 07 March 09 06:18 GMT (UK)  »
After months and months of searching, with the help of Josephine, I think I have finally found the elusive Arthur Herbert/Chester Brown and his wife Agnes Mabel.    It still does not answer the question as to why they fostered out my father in law Arthur Baron Brown in 1903.  I also found my father in law on the 1911 in Leeds with his Higham foster parents.   Surely I have found him!

Is there any way of finding out where newspaper records for Bath between say 1910 and 1925 would be held?   I am looking for an article about a possible "big" fraud or scandal which took place.   Maureen
