I have a death certificate for an ancestor, Elizabeth Howard died 13.4.1872. cause of death -( looks like) "hepatitis" 12 weeks confinement. Carditis (looks like) 9 days.
My question is does the 12 weeks confinement mean she was pregnant at date of death, or would the hepatitis mean she was confined indoors. I assume the carditis was heart disease. She had born 9 living children, the last born 1869.

Any help on this would be very gratefully received. I am kind of hoping she wasnt pregnant yet again.

How would she have contracted hepatitis (I think that is what the certificate says). Sorry for all the questions, I am not very "medically gifted"! Best wishes to all on RootsChat.

Essex Lookup Requests / John Howard, Rector of Beauchamp Roding 1911
« on: Sunday 30 October 16 13:06 GMT (UK)  »
One of my ancestors was Rector of Beauchamp Roding, where he lived at the Rectory (1911 census) and where he died in 1928.
He had one son, John, born 1877 Battersea (registered Wandsworth) and one daughter, Frances Augusta Howard born 1878. Frances Augusta did not marry, she died in 1933.
I have John Howard (junior born 1877) living at the Rectory in Beauchamp Roding aged 24 years, in the 1901 Census. After that I can find no trace of him. Would like to know if he married and had children. He and his unmarried sister Frances Augusta are mentioned in the Will of their father, so still alive after their father died in 1928. John (Junior) Howard is styled as "Gentleman" in his father's Will.
If anyone can throw any light on what happened to John Howard (Junior) I would be very grateful.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post.

Would be very grateful for any help pointing me in the right direction.

Lancashire / United Steam Tug Co. Ltd., Liverpool
« on: Wednesday 31 August 16 15:04 BST (UK)  »
I have traced by g.g.g.grandfather as Mate on steam tug "United Kingdom" No. 21054, in 1870.
William Evans, born Runcorn 1813.

Does anyone have any information on the company or the tugs? He married a young lady aged 21 in 1868 and I cant trace what happened to her. Would the  United Steam Tug company ltd, of 9 Chapel Street, Liverpool, have records of their address in 1870, or would she have had a pension from the company? The Master on board was William Griffiths.

Any help very much appreciated.

Family History Beginners Board / John Carr buried Ormskirk 7.10.1765
« on: Thursday 19 June 14 13:28 BST (UK)  »
???I am seeking the birth of my ancestor John Carr of Halsall.
Information I have on him is his marriage to Alice Green on 29th September 1735 at St. Cuthberts church, Halsall. On marriage register it says he is John Carr of Halsall, Alice Green is of Scarisbrick.
I cannot trace birth for either John Carr or Alice Green. They were both living in Scarisbrick when they died. His family and descendents all settled in Ormskirk.
I would really like to find his baptism record. I have searched St Cuthberts, Hallsall, and Parish Church, Ormskirk, with no luck.
If anyone out there can help me I would be very grateful. This has been a brick wall for some time now and I think I just need a bit of help.
Thanks.

Does anyone know the address "Allt Arni" probably Connahs Quay, ancestors address in 1877.
I assume the "Allt Arni" as per a marriage certificate, is the name of a house. I think that's what it says on the certificate but the writing is a bit spidery!

Perhaps someone knows what it means translated into English?

Thanks for looking.

Hi, does anyone have any information on John Oldfield, who was Harbour Master, Connahs Quay between 1870 to 1880s. He was married to Sarah Ann Evans, who died in Connahs Quay in 1876. I am trying to trace their children and descendants, in particular what happened to Robert Oldfield, youngest child of John and Sarah Ann.  He was born on 24th October 1874. I believe he was then adopted by Robert and Mary Cook after Sarah Ann died. He was back living with his brother Joseph Alfred Oldfield and his wife Mary and children. After that I cannot trace any record of any of that family.
My very grateful thanks in anticipation of any information anyone can offer.

Flintshire / Burials in Wepre (Connahs Quay) 1872 and 1876
« on: Sunday 27 April 14 19:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,
Could anyone please help me discover the burial place of my ancestor and his daughter?
Details I have are: William Evans, died January 1872 "near Horse and Hounds, Wepre".
His daughter's was Sarah Ann Oldfield, address in 1871 "near Horse and Hounds, Wepre".
Sarah Ann Oldfield died in 1876, death registered in Holywell, Flintshire.

Hope someone out there can point me in the right direction. William and Sarah Ann were originally from Runcorn, so not Welsh born.

Thank you.

Flintshire / Hare and Hounds, Wepre, Northop.
« on: Saturday 26 April 14 07:52 BST (UK)  »
I am searching for the death of my ancestor William Evans, born Runcorn 1813. I know he died between 1868 and 1878, he was a mariner, coastal service. Searching for his death I have sent for various death certificates, erroneously. However, I have one which may be him. Death on 28th January 1872 near Hare and Hounds, Wepre. Could anyone tell me where that was, was it near the river? He could have died whilst working. James Pendlebury was in attendance death at "near the bridge, Connahs Quay, Northop". Could anyone tell me where that bridge was, was it near the Hare and Hounds, could Evans have been taken there. James Pendlebury was also from Runcorn, so a tenuous link.
Any help at all would be very gratefully received.
