This Catholic marriage record from Longford shows that John Gill married Mary McDermott in the presence of John Scally and Brigid Killian. It appears they received a dispensation from Bishop John Kilduff for consanguinity. Can anyone translate what it says after Killian and before Reverendissimo? I’d be interested in knowing what those numbers mean.

John and Mary’s first child was born about 6 weeks after the wedding.

Thanks!

Longford / Cooletegal Longford
« on: Sunday 16 June 19 22:35 BST (UK)  »
I have found a number of church records on rootsireland for Newtowncashel parish in Longford that show that the address is Cooletegar. I am unable to find a townland with that name in Longford.

But, I did a search of the Tithe Applotment Books and located a townland named “Cooletegal” that had some of the same surnames that were in the church records.  I believe this is probably the same place.

Does anyone know what the current townland name for Cooletegal is?
Many thanks in advance!

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help needed with Mothers Maiden Name
« on: Thursday 04 January 18 21:41 GMT (UK)  »
This is a snippet from an 1863 Gloucester Massachusetts death record for Catherine (Byrne) Duffy that lists the names and birthplace of her parents. Catherine is originally from Westmeath. I can’t determine what is her mother’s maiden name? To me, it looks like Grosler, but I can’t find any records with that name.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Would appreciate ideas on when each of these photos was taken. They are copies of the original photos. The ladies are Mary (Henebery) Murphy from Waterford Ireland and two of her daughters. Since I have confirmation from her grandson, I know the girl on the left is Mary’s daughter Mary. She was born in 1886. I believe the other girl is possibly my grandmother who was born in 1889. There is one other sister but she is 8 years younger than Mary and I believe these girls look closer to 3 years apart.
I believe the men are James (Mary’s husband) and their son John. John was born in 1880.
Thanks in advance

Westmeath / Marriage reg chapel & district names -Help please
« on: Thursday 24 April 14 02:00 BST (UK)  »
Can someone help with the chapel and registrars district names on this marriage reg from Mullingar?
The groom’s residence was Ballymaglavy and the bride was from Sheean. I looked at a list of townlands in Mullingar and I think the name of the district looks like Ballynacargy? Is that in the vicinity of these two towns? Or is it something else?
Any help would be very much appreciated……..
