World War One / Thomas Law
« on: Tuesday 28 May 19 22:42 BST (UK)  »
Years ago when on holiday in North Wales I met the midwife who delivered me, and she asked my family to look for her husband's grave when we went on a forthcoming visit to France.  We couldn't find it, and I have been looking for any record of him over the years since then.  His name was Thomas Law, born in Liverpool in 1884 and was 27 in 1911, married to Catherine and living in Llandudno working as a shop assistant.  No idea what service or regiment he was in, and no death record in UK.  Can anybody help me solve this mystery?

United States of America / Children of Ann Jones (nee Evans)
« on: Friday 10 February 17 23:52 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for the children of Ann Davies, who was in Conshohocken, Montgomery, Pennsylvania in 1870, after her second marriage to Daniel Driskel.  By 1871 she was back in Merthyr Tydfil with her father, Evan Evans, with two sons, Richard and John Davies, and daughter Maggie.  I believe Richard and/or John went back to America later.

US Lookup Requests / James and Ann Davies
« on: Tuesday 09 February 16 12:55 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find out whether Ann Davies went to Pennsylvania with her husband Janes and re-married  when she was widowed to Daniel Driscoll, with whom she was living in Pennsylvannia as his wife in the 1870 Census.  I have searched in UK records for a marriage but can't find anything, but haven't had any luck with American records either.  Can anybody help please?

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / David Driscoll, born Merthyr Tydfil
« on: Sunday 26 April 15 12:34 BST (UK)  »
I am having trouble finding my grandfather's birth records.  I have already wasted money on a couple of certificates, so am reluctant to add to the pile!

The story is that my great grandfather Daniel Driscoll married Ann ? in America, but I can't find my grandfather David.  The only certificate I haven't obtained is one dated 1868, no. 11a 369.  Could somebody do a lookup for me please?

Thanks
Judy

The Common Room / Entry on Death Certificate
« on: Wednesday 15 October 14 17:08 BST (UK)  »
The following entry was made at the bottom of a Death Certificate.  Can anybody tell me what it means please?

"In space 7(b) for "Widow of deceased" read "Present at the Death".  Corrected on 11 January 1974 by me, R A Rogers Registrar, on production of a statutory declaration made by [name of informant described as widow of deceased] and A. N. Other "

Names have been left out for obvious reasons.

The Common Room / Cecil Noel Driscoll
« on: Saturday 27 September 14 05:58 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out what happened to my uncle, Cecil Noel Driscoll.  He was born in Gilfach Goch in 1905, and the only record I can find of him after he left was that he died in Sturminster Newton, Dorset, in 1973.  As the census records after 1911 are not available as yet, I don't know where to start looking.
