Herts Completed Lookup Requests / Marriage and baptism look up please - YOUNG
« on: Friday 13 January 06 08:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi -

Could someone please help me with tracing the marriage of John YOUNG and his wife Susannah?  He was born in Watford c 1787, she was born in Aldenham c 1794.  I know about two children, Sarah Ann, b c 1829 and John, b c 1831, both in Elstree.

I have checked the parish register of marriages (Phillimore's Index) of Elstree, but John and Susannah are not listed.  If you have access to the marriage index for Watford or Aldenham, could you see if their marriage is listed there?

Also, I 'd be grateful if the baptism index of Elstree could be looked at to see if there are any other children.  33 seems quite old for a first child back then!

As always, thanks for reading and your time,  I appreciate any help given.

Many thanks
Kate

Hi all -

Please could someone have a look at the 1841 census for Harmon (or Harmond) GRISEWOOD/GRISTHORD?  I believe he was living at Burntwood House in Wandsworth.

If he's there, please could you confirm all else who is living there?  This could be the end of a very long search!

Many thanks for reading and for your time.

Hi,

I'm looking for information of a John YOUNG, born in Watford c 1788 (he would have been about 53 in 1841).  I think he was living in Bengeo, and was a tailor by profession.

He was married to a Susan, born c 1795 in Aldenham, and had at least two children:

Sarah Ann (born c 1829 Elstree)
John (born c 1831 Elstree)

If anyone could find this family on the 1841 census and confirm any other children, I'd be most grateful.

Many thanks in advance for your time and assistance.

Kind regards
K

Hi - does anyone have any information about Burntwood Grange in Finchley?  I believe an ancestor of mine may have been a servant there, but I can't seem to  find any information about the place anywhere at all!  The only reason I know it existed was through the mention I found for the GRISEWOOD family in Burke's Peerages.

Can anyone give me any history on the place, or an idea of where to find the information?  Can anyone tell me where in Finchley it was located?

Many thanks all for your time!

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / LOOK UP please - 1841 census

Hi - please could someone help me with a lookup for Caroline MIDDLETON in Finchley on the 1841 census?  She had an illegitimate son, Harman (or Harmond) MIDDLETON on 5 November 1840 (Hog Market, Finchley), but I know no more about her than that.  I'm hoping that the 1841 census could shed some more light for me...

Many thanks for your time and help.

Kind regards, Kate.

Australia Lookups completed / Look up please - Isabella RUSH
« on: Tuesday 18 October 05 08:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi - can anyone help me with my ancestress, Isabella RUSH??

From research, I know she was born 19.1.1863 at 8pm (she was a twin - her sister Julia was born at 10pm!) in Greenwich, London, to George and Mary Ann RUSH (nee DUFFETT).  Her parents died in 1869, and Isabella, with all her siblings bar the eldest, were sent to the orphans' school (workhouse) in Sutton, Surrey.  At some point, Isabella and her sister were split up, and Julia was sent to London, but it seems that Isabella was taken to Australia.

I don't know who took her, or which part of Australia she was taken to.  I haven't been able to trace any sign of her so far.  So, any and all help most gratefully received!

If you have any knowledge of Isabella RUSH, please contact me.  If you have an idea of where I can search for more info, please contact me!  Have never hadto research Australia before, so am a bit stuck!  ???

Thanks for reading, and for your time!

Kind regards, Kate.
