Family History Beginners Board / Edgar family cumberland
« on: Sunday 23 November 14 00:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,  I am in desperate need of help with my family history - I have been at it since 2008 and have now got back to an ancestor called Taffetie Edger who married a Jena Brag in St. Bees 13/6/1642.  I think Jena is actually Jeneta Brage - I can cope with that but I cannot find any birth or any other information for Taffetie Edger other than the marriage and him being the father of a number of children after the marriage.  I appreciate that St. Bees is a wide area and includes Whitehaven but I just can't find any information about Taffetie anywhere.  Can anyone help me please?

Hi,
I hope I am in the correct area of RootsChat;  on behalf of a very dear friend, I am looking for a William Charlton and his wife Mary Skatt.  We have the information that a Joseph Charlton, born in Feb 1861 at Longbenton.  Joseph's father was Thomas Charlton born 1810 at Sparrow House, Seaton Burn.  Seemingly his father was William Charlton and his mother was Mary Charlton (nee Skatt).  These are the two I am looking for.  I cannot find either William's or Mary's birth and I am assuming that William was born around the seaton burn/seghill area but as for Mary Skatt I am completely lost as I can't find any reference to a Skatt family in the area at all.  I feel that Skatt is a Scottish name so perhaps her family came from Scotland but the only reference we have to Mary is an entry on the LDS site - the entry was made by a lady in America.  Can anyone help us to find Mary Skatt born (accorinding to the LDS entry) in Northumberland, or William Charlton in the Seaton area.  Thanking everyone in anticipation.

Durham Lookup Requests / Edgar family
« on: Sunday 03 May 09 15:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi there - I am on the trail of the Edger/Edgar family and have been searching in Cumberland pre 1844 and have been quite successful (with a great deal of help from the roots forum).  I am giving that a rest for a while and trying to fill in some gaps at the DUrham end.
My grandfather was John Edgar/Edger who was apparently born in a little house in Tow Law in 1875.  His father's name was Robert.  Robert was born in Cumberland and it would seem that by the time John was 6, he was living back in Cumberland with his father and ? step mother.
Family rumours have it that John's mother died when he was 4 days old and no-one knows a) wether she and RObert were married or b) John's mother's name (or maiden name).
I am told that John's mother was buried in Stanley churchyard.

Can anyone help me to find either John's mother's name, maiden name or anything about her.

Many thanks in anticipation.

I need help please to find out about William Edgar/Edger/Edgers.  He was married to Ann Wilson at Flimby in 1803 and together they had 7 children -Peter (ch 1804), George (1812), John (1814), ? George (1816), William Wilson (1818) and David (1821-1823).  I am desperate to find out more about William and his wife Ann (more especially William) such as date of birth, place of birth and if possible, his parents names.  Is there anyone out there can help me.  I have already received some good help to get this far but as I have an 83 year old mother and 85 year old aunt waiting for news on their roots, I am sure you can appreciate time is of the essence.  I will at some stage be going to the Records office but that is out of the question as I am currently nursing a broken leg (rugby at my age !!!) Many thanks in advance to anyone that can help me.

« on: Wednesday 11 March 09 23:19 GMT (UK)  »
Help needed please - I have come to a standstill with my family tree for Edgar/Edger/Edgers.  My ancestor, Peter Edgar/Edger was christened in St. Michaels Workington in 1804;  his father's name was William and his mother's name was Ann.  I am completely stuck and would like to find out about William and Ann where they were born, dates of birth, when they married and if they had other children apart from William.  Can anyone help me please?
