Angus (Forfarshire) / Sylvester Carnegie's Descendants
« on: Monday 09 December 19 19:31 GMT (UK)  »
On page 396 of Fraser's Book The Earls of Southesk and their Ilk, it reads "David fifthe Earl of Northesk, died at Ethie on 24th June 1741and buried in family vault in Inverkeillor Church on June 30th. Dying unmarried, he was succeeded by his brother George Carnegie.

A footnote reads as follows "David fith Earl of Northesk had, by Isabel Rarity, a natural son, Sylvester who was born on 16th of January 1732, and married Margaret Peter on 9th June 1755. Their children were three sons and one daughter-James, John, William, and Anna. Descendants of these children reside in Arbroath. -Original Letter from the Rev. John Aitken of St. Vigeans, 20th Jan. 1784, at Ethie.

Does anybody have any information on the four children and their descendants.

I have another testament which I would appreciate transcribing - It seems that she was the spouse of Robert Carnegie of Newgate.

Would anyone be willing to transcribe this testament for me. I do not have the skills to read anything other than a couple of words.

I would appreciate any help in deciphering the attached baptism. The earl of Southesk at that time was Robert Carnegie 3rd earl of Southesk [1649-1688].

What is the word before brother? I am trying to identify the father of Robert Carnagie of Newgate whose testament was dated 18 November 1685 [Robert Carnegie].
