The Common Room / Advice needed on Cancelling Subs at FindmyPast.
« on: Sunday 01 May 22 15:06 BST (UK)  »

Can anyone on here advise me on how to cancel my subscription to the Find myPast Site please?

In order to view the 1921 Census as soon as it became available, I took out a subscription.

I now want to cancel it, but despite wading through my account details and trying to unsubscribe, it seems impossible to cancel before my year is up?

I get this message:

Your subscription is now cancelled. However, it will remain valid until Nov 23 2022, 10:24 UTC.

Obviously I donít want to auto renew, but is it not possible to cancel the current subscription? I know that you can with Ancestry, because Iíve done it previously, and been refunded.

The Common Room / New TV Series of DNA Journey starts next week.
« on: Saturday 02 April 22 14:27 BST (UK)  »
A new Series of DNA Journey starts on ITV on Tuesday next week.

Celebrity pairings for the new series are...

Kate Garraway & Alison Hammond
Jayne Torvill & Christopher Dean
Maureen Lippmann & Rula Lenska
Anne Hegarty & Shaun Wallace
Rob Beckett & Romesh Ranganathan
Alison Steadman & Larry Lamb
Joel Dommett & Tom Allen.

The 1st Episode is with Anne Hegarty and Shaun Wallace apparently.

Iím looking forward to seeing it.

Iím going round in circles trying to make sense of this, and would welcome some imput with it.

Because Iíve never been able to find my Paternal Grandfather anywhere before he married my Grandmother in 1893, I turned to DNA testing.

Thanks to my late Mother having tested with Ancestry, I can sort my matches into Paternal/Maternal sides in the main.

My most significant Paternal match on Ancestry is to someone at 133cMs across 4 segments. Ancestry says heís my 2nd Cousin, once removed.

On 23andme, I have a DNA match to someone whose Grandfather is the 1st Cousin of this man. My match to her is 97cMs across 3 segments.

And so I think that the relationship between these 2 matches must be 1st Cousins, twice removed?

My problem is, how do I match to them?

23andme say that my match on that Site and I share a set of Great Great Grandparents. However, my Grandfather was born in 1860, and so Iím wondering if that skews the generations somewhat?

Iím feeling totally stuck with this  :o
Any help welcomedÖ
