Canada Lookup Request / Emile Lacas - 1921 - Montreal
« on: Sunday 01 January 17 22:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

My friend's father came to UK with Canadian Armed Forces during WWII.
He met & married my friend's mother in 1941 in UK - at that time he was aged 22, & his father was Joseph LACAS, a hotelier.  They had 3 children, then we think he returned to Canada @ 1945/46 & lost touch with the family.  His wife remarried in 1952 by which time she had a 3 children with her future husband, all registered with the name LACAS - I assume it took a number of years to obtain a divorce.

I have searched the 1921 census on Ancestry & have found Emile LACASSE b 1919 with father Joseph b 1896 in census District 175 Laurier Ward Montreal, 982 Henri Julien.

Would anyone be able to do a look-up for me please so I would have more details?

And is it likely that LACAS is the same as LACASSE?

Thanks

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Portsea St Mary's marriage look-up request
« on: Wednesday 12 February 14 22:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All

I wonder if some kind soul could look up these marriages for me please?

20 July 1844
Nicholas Courtnell
Harriett Hayes

And

11 Feb 1821
Nicholas Courtnell
Ann Stewart

Very elusive is our Nicholas - especially as there's a second Nicholas Courtnell born @ the same time who says he was born Whitstable, Kent but seems to also have been bap in Portsea.  Most confusing.

Thanks in advance.

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / St James Wollaston marriage look-up 1912
« on: Friday 22 February 13 20:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Does anyone have access to St James Wollaston PRs please?

I'd like a look-up for 1912 please:

HODGETTS Alfred SIVITER Martha Wollaston, St James Dudley Register Office 007/002/176

I'm hoping that Alfred was a chainmaker, as was his father - who is hopefully Edward.

Witnesses too might confirm he's 'mine'

Thanks

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Wilfred STOKES
« on: Saturday 17 May 08 20:50 BST (UK)  »
 Hi All

There is a Wilfred STOKES who died 1992 (GRO Exeter) with DOB 27 Apr 1931.

The only Wilfred birth registered that quarter was the son of Owen & Ada (nee Fudge) in THORNE, Yorkshire.

Ada died in childbirth, & her son was (so the story goes) brought up by someone else.

Has anyone got Wilfred in their tree?  Any info gratefully received.

Thanks

Steph
