Somerset / Baker, Alfred & Eliza + Charles Dunn
« on: Saturday 04 July 15 06:14 BST (UK)  »
The 1861 Census lists Alfred Baker as Farrier with the 5th Royal Irish Lancers at Aldershot.
The 1871 Census lists Alfred as Blacksmith at Huish Episcopi, Somerset, married to Eliza from Shipham, with son Alfred J born in Bristol in 1869.
The 1881 Census lists Eliza married to Charles Dunn, tailor & innkeeper, with stepson, John Baker.
The 1891 Census lists Eliza as "housekeeper" to Charles Dunn with sons Charles Dunn & Taylor Dunn. (Eliza lists herself as "widow", possibly to claim Alfred's pension?)
Charles Dunn dies in 1993 leaving £17 to his wife, Eliza Baker.  Eliza's son John moves to Wales, gets his landlord's daughter in the family way, marries her in Bedminster, then Eliza moves in with son John's father-in-law with son Taylor Dunn, who becomes Taylor Dunn Baker, then Frederick Taylor Baker in 1911.  Charles Dunn Jr becomes Charles Baker and settles in Bedminster.  If anyone has additional facts or photos, please let me know!  Aloha!

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Thompson, Ann m: 11.X.1834 Charles Baylis
« on: Tuesday 17 March 15 01:18 GMT (UK)  »
According to Census reports, Ann Thompson claimed to have been born in Wilnecote in 1815, but I can not find any evidence of that.  Ann Married Charles Baylis at St. Michael's in Lichfield, Staffordshire, then gave birth to their daughter Elizabeth, in Wilnecote (CH: 29.II.1836, St. Editha, Tamworth).  Her husband, Charles Baylis, Wilnecote butcher, was the son of Charles Baylis and Anne Fidgeon (m. 07.IV.1800) of British law fame, yet I am unable to locate any definitive information about Ann Thompson's birth, her parents, nor her death.   Any information will be greatly appreciated!
(Daughter Elizabeth Baylis married Thomas Huskins, CH 13.III.1836 St. Editha, son of John & Susannah Huskins).

Glamorganshire / Griffiths, Edward d. 1907 Pwllgwaun
« on: Tuesday 17 March 15 00:48 GMT (UK)  »
Seeking photos/document/info regarding Edward Griffiths, claiming on Census reports to have been born 1864 in Treforest, but no birth record.  Listed in 1871 Census as "nephew" to Margaret Williams Griffith, widow (m. Evan Griffith 12.II.1831 Llantrisant), but as her "son" in 1881 Census.  Edward married Margaret Gwynn (dtr of Daniel Gwyn & Jane Evans) 27.IX.1886 Glyntaff, listing his father as, "William Grifffith, farmer" . Edward & Margaret's children were:  Lemuel John Griffiths 1887, Mary Jane 1889, David William 1891, Catherine Anne 1893, Gwen 1896, Margaret Mary 1897, Edward Watkin 1900, Gwladys 1903, Olwen 1906/7.  Lemuel John found his father hanging from a beam in the barn in 1907.  Nothing is known of the fate of his mother or siblings, nor do we know the name of Edward's mother.  Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Radnorshire / Greenway, John Llanbadarn-y-Garreg
« on: Tuesday 17 March 15 00:22 GMT (UK)  »
According to Ruth Greenway (and her descendents) her father and mother were John Greenway and Elizabeth Price married 17.XII.1814 in Llanbadarn-y-Garreg.  According to the 1841 & 1851 Census, her father would have been age 13-14 and her mother age 6-7 in 1814, but I can not find any record of a John Greenway marrying an Elizabeth in a legal time-frame (Ruth was Christened 10.XII.1826).  Ruth's siblings could have been Jane b. 1816, Elizabeth 1818, John 1821, James 1823, and Mary 1829.  John Greenway's occupation was Tailor.  Ruth was an housemaid in Monmouthshire in 1841, but allegedly returned home after her mother, Elizabeth died.
Any information/documentation would be greatly appreciated!
