Somerset / Baker, Alfred & Eliza + Charles Dunn
« on: Saturday 04 July 15 06:14 BST (UK) »
The 1861 Census lists Alfred Baker as Farrier with the 5th Royal Irish Lancers at Aldershot.
The 1871 Census lists Alfred as Blacksmith at Huish Episcopi, Somerset, married to Eliza from Shipham, with son Alfred J born in Bristol in 1869.
The 1881 Census lists Eliza married to Charles Dunn, tailor & innkeeper, with stepson, John Baker.
The 1891 Census lists Eliza as "housekeeper" to Charles Dunn with sons Charles Dunn & Taylor Dunn. (Eliza lists herself as "widow", possibly to claim Alfred's pension?)
Charles Dunn dies in 1993 leaving £17 to his wife, Eliza Baker. Eliza's son John moves to Wales, gets his landlord's daughter in the family way, marries her in Bedminster, then Eliza moves in with son John's father-in-law with son Taylor Dunn, who becomes Taylor Dunn Baker, then Frederick Taylor Baker in 1911. Charles Dunn Jr becomes Charles Baker and settles in Bedminster. If anyone has additional facts or photos, please let me know! Aloha!
