Canada Lookup Request / BMD lookup for Occomore ( Completed, with thanks)
« on: Monday 23 May 11 16:27 BST (UK)  »
Can some one please look for the death of Minnie Occomore?
I notice on the Canadian Ancestry there is a Minnie Oconner who died in York Northumberland West, Ontario ,which is near the place she was living
  in 1891
She appears to have gone to Hamilton Northumberland West, Ontario as shown on the 1891 Census of Canada and was adopted by an Irish Family called STOTT, (James and Jane )
She came from Camberwell London and was born in 1878. She was sent Dr Barnardos Home. along with her elder sister Susan Elizabeth Occomore they where both sent to a new life in Canada after the suddden death of their Father.
Minnie went in 1886 and her sister Susan (Susie) was sent over two years later. they appear to have been completely separated. Susan wasn't adopted, but went on to marry and live in America.
I am compiling a one name study of the name Occomore and It is a name that is often misspelled. I find typing Oc*more often yields good results.
I have asked for a check on the death records but if anyone can trace a marriage I would be most interested.
Many thanks
Patricia

The Common Room / GRO Birth Certificate number + letter ?
« on: Tuesday 18 July 06 17:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone.
I am looking at a Birth entry that has the letter "a" after the number.
Can anyone say what the "A" refers to please?
I have posted the ones I am looking at for Ochme and Ochone. I think there is obviously a mistake in the surname. I am researching Occomore and the Kingsclere area is correct .I thought I would take this one under my wing until the 1911 arrives ::)
Thanks for your help

United States of America / Lookup: Occomore in Michigan
« on: Sunday 09 July 06 15:34 BST (UK)  »
I am researching the name Occomore as a one name study.
I am trying to find Census material relating to
James Occomore B: 7/4/1841 Isle of Wight Hampshire England.
 D: 14/10/1919 Genesse Michigan
His wife Sarah Jane B: 6/2/1842 Isle of Wight
 D: 17/12/1914 Genesse Michigan.
They had three girls who accompanied them to Michigan, (the others remainig at home and living into old age.)
Elizabeth Annie Married Frank Christer
Sarah Jane Married Fred Bloss
Alice Frances Married David Badell.
James and Sarah did have a boy (Unnamed) in 1865 on the Isle of Wight. I don't know if he survived. So if anyone has access to Census records for Michigan from say 1871 onwards, to show just who did emigrate with their parents, I would love to hear from you.
I have not been able to trace any information on naturalization for this couple, only marriage of the girls and death of parents, and the girls.
I believe that there are still Occomores in America, so I wonder if James and Sarah had any more children once they got to America.
I have got information about Occomores in Guelf Canada, this family are distantly related to them.
Thanks for any help you can give

Since Sharon posted this link on Rootschat I have found some useful leads.
http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/csi/csi.cfm?CountyID=1
for which I would like to thank her  :D
The Limerick board has at the moment closed , you can still see the names that have been indexed.
I wrote to this feedback link,
http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/csi/feedback.cfm
and asked if they intended restarting the site, this was the reply

Thank you for your query regarding Limerick Ancestry. Talks are currently in
progress regarding its re-opening. And until this happens I can't say if any
further records will be added to the existing database

May I suggest all of you who are researching in Limerick create a demand   :P and do the same.
Thank you
Patricia  ;)
