Lancashire Lookup Requests / Electoral Roll Look Up - Cotterill Family
« on: Monday 19 September 11 21:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Can someone please look up the Liverpool electoral roll for the Cotterill family who lived at 53 Caldwell Road, Allerton, Liverpool in 1930?

I am researching my great grandfather which states on his death certificate of  this address as his sisters and she was the informant!    I was not aware that he had a sister and thought he was an only child.

If someone could give me information regarding this family in 1930, before then & after for the Cotterill family at this address.   I would be very grateful of any help anyone can give me to fill in these gaps.

Unfortunately, I do not live local and I am unable to visit the area to check myself.

Regards........Elaine

Derbyshire / Derby Electoral Register Look up please
« on: Monday 02 August 10 14:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to look up the Electoral Register for the following addresses in Derby which I got from copies of certs and are looking for any other family names (Pegg, Smith, Mills or could be related families) living at these addresses:-

11, 6, Court House, Bridge Gate, Derby (lived there in 1901)
16 Green Street, Derby (living there in 1902)
35 Bridge Street, Derby (living there in 1902)
17 Crown Street, Derby (living there in 1902)
121 Whitecross Street. Derby (living there in 1923)
12 Dorset Street, Derby (living there in 1966- poss since 1920 to 1966 or after that)
240 Stenston Road, Derby (living there in 1966)
90 Worcester crescent, Derby (lived there in 1984)
Quarn Street, Derby (lived there poss 1920 - 1966)

I have given the dates from the years of certs and other information that I have and hope that a search of people at these addresses can be listed down for me from at least 1871 to 1984.   I believe that some of these addresses no longer exist and would appreciate any information and help regarding this.

I don't live locally and I can't think how else I can get this information but to ask on here and hope that someone is visiting the Derby Record office or Derby local studies library or perhaps Matlock record office.

This information would be most helpful as I can't go forward or backwards in my research - so I am stuck with just these addresses to go on.

I know that this is a big ask and will take some time to look up all these addresses.

Many thanks in advance,

Regards........Elaine

Renfrewshire / 1891/1901 census lookup - Devol Farm, Port Glasgow
« on: Tuesday 22 June 10 23:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Can some kind person do a look-up on the 1891 & 1901 census for Devol Farm, Port Glasgow and the tenant / owner was a Mrs Black who agreed to the use of land for the current Port Glasgow Golf Club.   I am looking for any information on this person and the names of farm servants who worked there.

I have a relative who worked there in 1897 and was hoping that he was working there at the time of these censuses as this is the only information have.

Is it likely that there may have been other records about the history of this site and if so where would these records be kept?

I would be very grateful if someone could help in any way.

thanks..........Elaine

Derbyshire / Electoral Rolls for Dronfield
« on: Saturday 30 January 10 08:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I was wondering if anyone can check the electoral rolls for the Dronfield district for some addresses that I have.

I would be grateful if you could tell me where I get these online or do I visit a local library or records office and which one?  Unfortunately I do not live locally so I am bit in the dark about this.

Also, I am not sure what years the electoral rolls started and what years you can get access to at any sources.

I would appreciate any advice and help.

Thanks...........Elaine

Derbyshire / 1901 Census - 17 Crown Street, Derby
« on: Sunday 05 April 09 16:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I was wondering if anyone can give me the names of the family who lived at 17 Crown Street, Derby in the 1901 census?

This address appeared on a birth certificate for my grandfather in 1902 and I am wondering if there is a family link.

I have tried to locate this address using FindMyPast but nothing comes up in my search.

I am not sure of this street still exists in Derby?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks....Elaine

Renfrewshire / 1891 & 1901 Census - Devol Farm, Port Glasgow
« on: Thursday 10 January 08 22:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking for a Donald McQuarrie who in 1898 on his son's birth cert was stated by child's mother - father's name and that he resided at Devol Farm, Port Glasgow as Farm Servant.  The child was born in Airdrie and so far have been unable to make any link with Airdrie and Port Glasgow and also trace this Donald McQuarrie he seems to have disappeared.

Can anyone tell me where I can find the census records for Devol Farm, Port Glasgow - if they do exist?

Also, can anyone tell if there exist a list of tenants or workers at this farm at any time pre 1891 and 1901?

As I know very little about the background of Devol Farm - does anyone know its past history and what has become of it now.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks.....Elaine

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / 1901 Census - Pegg family from Derby
« on: Sunday 09 July 06 11:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am trying to locate any Pegg families on the 1901 census who had a son called William Alfred (my grandfather).   I don't know for sure when he was born possibly c1902 Derby and I haven't been able to find his parents names so far.  Also, whether he had any brothers or sisters.

I have no idea how many Pegg families were around in Derby at that time and if they were all related to one another or they came from another area.

If William was born c1902 then he would not be shown on 1901 census????

I would appreciate if someone could give me 1901 census details of any Pegg family and this might help me make a link to mine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards........Elaine

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Find birth details for PEGG children - DERBY
« on: Friday 07 July 06 00:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I wonder if some kind person could look at the birth records of the following children and could tell me their parents names and any other details.

I have found these childrens names on free BMD site, fathers surname PEGG, mothers maiden name SMITH in the district of Derby as follows:

Allen G Pegg born Jul-Sep 1933 vol 7b page 795
                    died Oct-Dec 1938 (age 5yrs) vol 7b page 549

Brian R Pegg born Oct-Dec 1941 vol 7b page 1056
                     died Jan-Mar 1942 (age 0yrs) vol 7b page 908

Clive G Pegg born Apr-Jun 1943 vol 7b page 1038
                     died Jul-Sep 1943 (0yrs) vol 7b page 513

Brenda A E Pegg born Apr-Jun 1951 vol 3a page 377

Stephen M Pegg born Apr-Jun 1952 vol 3a page 442

My grandparents were married in 1923 in Derby and had children from 1923 to 1947 who were all born in Derby and thought that it was a possibility with the parents surnames and birth years fitting.

I could request these from the Record Office but I would rather not spend the money just in case they are not related.   I know that I might have to do this but if anyone has any other ideas of how I could find the parents names I would be grateful.   Unfortunately, I don't live locally so it is not easy to gain access myself.

Appreciate any help or advice that anyone can give about this.

Regards......Elaine

Derbyshire / Look up - Grindlow Taylor - Stubley/Dronfield/Derbyshire
« on: Wednesday 28 June 06 08:07 BST (UK)  »
Could someone please do a lookup for two families by the name of Grindlow Taylor, I think they came from Stubley or Dronfield or somewhere else in that area of Derbyshire:

William married Lucy (nee Straw)
children Mary, Nellie, Ada, Polly, Beatrice (Ethel), Hilda and Harold

Jonathan married Amelia Elizabeth
children Annie, Amy, Violet and Jonathan

I am guessing that William and Jonathan might be related poss brothers but I can't seem to find any connection so far and also any other information such as their parents names.   They not have come from these areas originally but settled there as I know that the children of William were born on Dronfield.

Also, I am trying to make a connection obviously through a marriage of a Grindlow and Taylor and not able to find anything either.

I would appreciate it if any one can help me in finding these familes and hopefully making a connection.

Regards.

Elaine
