Technical Help / FTM 2019
« on: Saturday 30 January 21 16:58 GMT (UK)  »
Hi. I have FTM 2005 on my PC and loads of info on it. It installed ok from just a copy of the disc (many years ago) on windows 10. It takes a while to open but does eventually. Thought it might be time to update to 2019 version in case I lose it. Seems 2019 is a stand alone upgrade so how do I copy files over from 2005 version.
Had a live chat with Mackiev and the chap said that if I have got fam tree files on computer it will pick them up. Seems a bit vague to me. Do I copy over with gedcoms or what.

Also has anyone bought this version. Do I really need to upgrade? Just a precaution really as never been synced with Ancestry.

" You will be able to open files from previous version into FTM 2019 directly without any prior conversion.
You can open FTW and .FBK files
.FBC files
.AFT files
.GED
FTW and  .FBK
You need to open FTM 2019 and choose Open option to open regular tree file and choose Restore option to restore backup. You just need to have tree files on computer where you are going to install FTM 2019".

The Common Room / Two burials in one grave?
« on: Monday 20 May 19 21:02 BST (UK)  »
I wanted a pic of a grave at Epsom Cemetery and someone supplied the plot no on Find a Grave, so I asked some kind person to take one for me. She posted one of that grave number but it was the wrong name for me. However on Epsom burial website they are both buried at the same site. Don't know if the two people are connected but one is a kind of war memorial of someone who served in the CEF(Canadian Expeditionary Forces). The burial date given for the private is 1year before the one I'm interested in. Any thoughts. By the way there is no headstone for the latter.

The Common Room / Gertrude Nancy Foley, where are you?
« on: Sunday 18 February 18 15:12 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for the marriage of Gertrude Nancy Foley, have tried loads of sites without luck. She was known to my mother as Nancy and that is how she was recorded in 1901 and 1911 at Station Road Hagley. She was born 1897 and had an illegitimate child in 1920. The 1939 register shows her as Gertrude Nancy Richards, a widow, with her son at Owls Nest Bromyard. Found her death as a Richards in 1955 but no marriage. Someone suggested it was Frederick Ralph Stratford Richards,(his 2nd marriage) but can't find it anywhere. Help please!
