Hi,

I have the following record of Ambrosius Fisher marrying Margaretta Pipes (or Pybus):
Margaretta Pipes & Ambrosius Fisher
Marriage:   July 23 1696
 South Cave, York, England
Wife:   Margaretta Pipes
Husband:   Ambrosius Fisher
Indexing Project (Batch) Number:   M01866-1
System Origin:   England-ODM
GS Film number:   0973053 IT 4

I am now trying to find Ambrosius Fisher's birth details.

My options now seem to be:
1. Born out of county

OR
Born in Germany.

Ambrosius is Germanic or Swedish.

Am I on the right track?

Devon Lookup Requests / Pancrasweek, Devon, England - WICKETT
« on: Tuesday 06 October 15 17:19 BST (UK)  »
I have a John Wickett (DOB 1781) married to Mary Wickett (nee Dayman) (DOB 1781?) .

John's parent's are listed as Mary and Richard.
From a tree I merged with (yep, silly I know!)  MAry is born Sanders in 1735 and marries John Wickett in 1762.

Mary Wickett (born Sanders)
Pyworthy, Devon
May 25 1762

I have not been able to find the marriage details or banns.

According to the tree I merged with, Richard and Mary have:

Thomasin Beckley (born Wickett)
Pancrasweek, Devon, England
1769 Chr Apr 4 1769

This makes Mary 34 when Thomasin is born, but also means a seven year period between marriage and child.   (Plausible, but I would have thought that there might have been children prior to Thomasin.)

Then there's a 12 year gap and:
In 1781 Age ‎~46‏
Birth of son: John Wickett Ch Feb 5 1781
Pancrasweek Devon

1783 Age ‎~48‏
Birth of son: Richard Wickett Ch Mar 23 1783
Pancrasweek, Devon, England

1784 Age ‎~49‏
Birth of son: William Wickett No christening details
WIlliam and Sarah Wickett (nee Lane) have a son, Wiliam Wickett Jnr in 1810)

So based the 26 age gap between William Snr and Jnr, I feel that these aren't adult baptisms to get married (I have found a few of those in other families.)

My questions are, why the large gap between children.  And I feel it would have almost been on the border of absurd to have a child at 49 at that time (although not impossible!)

I feel like I have either missed a death and remarriage (possibly to woman also named Mary) or I have mised the birth of an earlier Richard who is the father of John born 1781.

1. Look up of this marriage: MAry is born Sanders in 1735 and marries John Wickett in 1762.
2. Look of children between marriage and Thomasin Beckley (born Wickett),
3. Look up of burial of Mary Wickett
4. Look of possible missed father of John.

Thank you - I hope I have made sense.

Has anyone come across a town called Roads?   I can find no trace of it.   Is it just a mistake on teh transcript?

Cheers

There are these two:

Rachel Suthurst - [Child] of Thomas Suthurst & Mary
    Abode: above Balladen
    Baptised by: John Welsh Curate

However, I think the first is a death in infancy. I think the second at 31/32 at the noted marriage might be too old.

I dismissed this one due to age (she'd be 34 at marriage)
Baptism: 12 Jan 1754 Chapel, Edenfield, Lancashire, England
Rachel Sutherst - Daughter of Thos. Edmd. Sutherst
    Born: 24 Dec 1753
    Abode: Higher Ashtenbottom

    Register: Baptisms 1731 - 1801 from the Bishop's Transcripts, Entry 238

This Rachel Suthurst Baptism: 29 Apr 1764 has a father Henry.

The possibles are:

Baptism: 9 Sep 1733 Chapel, Edenfield, Lancashire, England
Henry Sutherst - Son of Henry Sutherst
    Register: Baptisms 1731 - 1801 from the Bishop's Transcripts, Entry 26

Makes him 31 when he fathers Rachel.

Baptism: 20 Mar 1742/3 Chapel, Edenfield, Lancashire, England
Henry Suderst - Son of Richard Suderst
    Born: 26 Feb 1742/43
    Abode: Edenfield
    Register: Baptisms 1731 - 1801 from the Bishop's Transcripts, Entry 89

    Abode: Edenfield

Makes him 20.

I'm not sure where to go from here.

Lancashire / John Heywood, Heywood Lancashire DOB approx 1760
« on: Saturday 26 September 15 07:56 BST (UK)  »
I have Samuel Heywood DOB March 5 1792 of Heywood Lancaster.  Baptism details list the father as John Heywood.

Samuel Heywood
Gender: Male
Birth: Mar 5 1792
Christening: Mar 11 1792 - Heywood, Lancaster, England
Father: John Heywood
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: C03017-6
System Origin: England-EASy

For John Heywood Snr, I have found the following:

1.  John Heywood
England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975
Birth:   Dec 17 1766
Christening:   Dec 21 1766 - Heywood, Lancaster, England
Father:   John Heywood

2.  John Heywood
England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975

3.  John Heywood
England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975
Birth:   Dec 8 1768
Christening:   Jan 1 1769 - Heywood, Lancaster, England
Father:   John Heywood

I am presuming that Samuel's mother first name was Rachel, based on the fact that Samuel and his wife Grace (nee Scholfield) Heywood had two daughters called Rachel, the first who died an infant at age three (1816 to 1819) and the second born in 1824.    Based on that I have the following find:

John Heywood
England, Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Parish Registers
Name    John Heywood
Event Type    Marriage
Event Date    18 Sep 1787
Event Place    St Mary, Bury, Lancashire, England
Gender    Male
Spouse's Name    Rachel Suthurst
Spouse's Marital Status    Single

However, I am not sure which record refers to my John Heywood.  As I am in Western Australia, I need help looking up the records to determine which John is the correct one.

Would any one have information or be able to help?

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Jane Watkin DOB 1619
« on: Friday 25 September 15 15:09 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have managed to get back to 1619 through the censuses and great baptismal records.

I got to this record:

Daniel Nodder
mentioned in the record of Daniel Nodder and Jane Watkin
Name    Daniel Nodder
Spouse's Name    Jane Watkin
Event Date    08 Oct 1646
Event Place    West Riding, South Kirkby, York, England
Citing this Record

"England Marriages, 1538–1973 ," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NFCH-25X : accessed 25 September 2015), Daniel Nodder and Jane Watkin, 08 Oct 1646; citing West Riding, South Kirkby, York, England, reference it 1; FHL microfilm 1,542,263.

Looking up her birth records, I get:
1.
Jane Watkin
Gender:   Female
Christening:   Apr 18 1619
 Nunkeeling, York, England
Father:   Willm. Watkin
Indexing Project (Batch) Number:   P01720-1
System Origin:   England-ODM
GS Film number:   98537

and

2.
Jane Watkin
Gender:   Female
Christening:   Jan 24 1619
 Nunkeeling, York, England
Father:   Willm. Watkin
Indexing Project (Batch) Number:   P01720-1
System Origin:   England-ODM
GS Film number:   98537

It can't be a simple transciption error (1 instead of a 4, or vice versa for the months) as the day is different.

SO, my questions are:
1. Could there be two records for the same child, so close in date?
2. If they are different records and different children, how do I know which one is correct?

3.Is there a kind soul who would look up, transcribe and copy these records for me?
