Rev. John Graham lived at numbers 11, and 15, Rotha St. Greenock,  in the 1930's.  I wish to find if he was married and had children, in particular if he had a daughter named Gwendoline.  I would appreciate any information regarding Rev. John Graham.

Renfrewshire / Scotts Shipyard Greenock
« on: Sunday 16 October 16 20:47 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to establish the year the Norwegian Freighter, DS Inger ll was berthed at Greenock for repairs by Scotts Shipbuilders and Engineers.   The Inger ll was built by Scotts and at the time it was being repaired it was owned by the Norwegian firm of Jacob Kjode of Bergen.

I believe it was during the period between 1950-1954 but i need to know the exact year.

Does anyone have any local knowledge of the Shipyards and suggest where i could search for such a record?   Would it have been berthed in a particular dock?

any help would be greatly appreciated

Staffordshire / Barlaston Post Office
« on: Friday 04 January 13 18:26 GMT (UK)  »
I remember visiting 'Stone Cottages' in Barlaston.   From memory they where located on Longton Road opposite the Post Office.

Recently I tried to find a 'Street View ' photograph of the cottages on Google.  They dont appear to be there any longer!

I wonder, are there any Barlaston locals who can remember these cottages?  Is my memory correct, where the cottages opposite the Post Office?

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Gibbons/Barclays/Birkenhead
« on: Friday 13 July 12 18:36 BST (UK)  »
Hoping for some information on the following persons during their lives in Birkenhead.

Amy L. Gibbons, b. 1887 Liverpool, UK.  d. September, 1948.

Siblings Gordon Gibbons, b. 1918 Canada, d. 1987 Cheshire, i think in Birkenhead.

Dorothy Gibbons b. 1916 Canada, d.1997, Cheshire, again, i think in Birkenhead.

I know Dorothy married on the Wirral in June 1948 to an Eric C. Barclay.  (there's been a few different spellings for Eric, eg  Barkle and Barkley) I think the C stands for Callender.

Ideally i should like to know where they lived, their occupations and  did either of the siblings have children.

There was a suggestion that Dorothy may have been involved with the military in some way.

Canada Lookup Request / Children of Robert Thomas Gibbons
« on: Saturday 07 July 12 15:45 BST (UK)  »
I have been trying to track down the 2 children of Robert Thomas Gibbons for some time now. I have run the query through the system before without success.

The details i have are as follows Robert Thomas Gibbons b. 1887 Liverpool UK.  He married Amy Lillian Curran b.1885 Liverpool UK. They were married June 24th. 1914 SHELL RIVER Manitoba, Canada.

Robert died aged 46 in 1933, his address at the time was 906 Riverwood Avenue, i think Winnipeg.

They had 2 children by this marriage, Gordon Gibbons, who may actually be Gordon Thomas, was born 1918 Winnipeg.  Dorothy was born 1916 Winnipeg

However, recently during the free Canadian A- C period i thought i would have another bash, again without success!

Looking over the information i have for Robert, it states on his obituary that he had been a member of the Zion church choir for 17 years.  The funeral service was conducted at the Clark Leatherdale funeral home and the burial took place at St. James cemetery.  I assume these places mentioned are in Winnipeg.

I wonder if any more information on this family in particular re. the children, can be squeezed from the archives?

« on: Monday 28 February 11 17:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hoping to find the birth place and true parents of Agnes Crosbie,  b.1891 Scotland.

Between the years 1909 - 1976 she was either resident in the USA or traveling to or from to Scotland.  On one ships manifest her father is given as a John Crosbie,  Bridge of Dee, Castle Douglas, address is given as 31, High St. Kirkudbright.

There was a John Crosbie at that address,  also a James Crosbie at no. 11.  However, i cannot find any records that link these two gentlemen with Agnes!
