Cornwall Lookup Requests / Poll Records, Hele Bridge, Stratton
« on: Tuesday 22 October 13 01:45 BST (UK)  »
I found two references:  one to Jewell's tenements and another to Spry's Titson.  The forme is Hele Bridge and the latter is Marhamchurch.  I have both Jewells and Sprys in that location.  John and Grace Jewell Spry were married in Marhamchurch and a son was born in Hele Bridge in 1858 - Henry Jewell Spry, 21 February.  What is Spry's Titson and what would Jewell's tenements have?  Are any remaining today?
thank you in advance!

Hertfordshire / Maggie Curran death 1914
« on: Saturday 01 June 13 00:37 BST (UK)  »
I received the death certificate for Maggie Clazey Curran who died in 1914.  She and her husband, Frederick, Barman, were married in st. Mary's Catholic Church in Sunderland.  That was in 1913.  Cause of death was extra uterine pregnancy and heart failure.  Frederick was present, address was Gt. Gaddesden and he is listed as a publican.  Is there a Catholic Cemetery where she would have been buried?

Thank you.

Nottinghamshire / Curran
« on: Thursday 17 May 12 00:41 BST (UK)  »
In 1891 Census, John Joseph Curran is a licensed victualler.  Place of census was 19 London Road.  A son was named Frederick but he appears to be missing in the census.  He was b 1883 if age is correct on his marriage certificate to a Maggie Clazey in 1914.  Frederick's occupation in County Durham was Publican marriage certificate.  Maggie died a year later in childbirth....these two were in Hertfordshire at that time.  Did his father remain in Nottinghamshire....and for how long?

Does someone have access who could look up Glazie?  I am quite sure the spelling should be Clazie.  Thank you.

Berwickshire / Burgerhuys bells
« on: Wednesday 15 December 10 00:41 GMT (UK)  »
Rick Heiser and myself researching Clazie from the Hutton area now stumbled upon an entry where a Jon clazie transported a bell to Hutton and was allowed payment of a beer at his destination in 1650s.  It seems there are a number of bells cast from the Burgerhuys foundry in Zeeland in Scotland.  We are looking for the origin of the name, Clazie, clazey and wonder if they came from Holland originally...there are some in berwick upon tweed in the 1670s but this is the erliest we now have for the name in Hutton.  My questions would be:  where would the bells, cannons made by the foundry have ben unloaded....harbor? Would a representative of the company delivered them?  Burgerhuys supplied cannons to the Dutch East India Company...bells to scotland as erly as 1602.  Are there trade records...

Berwickshire / gypsies
« on: Saturday 11 September 10 03:01 BST (UK)  »
Have found through work done by another clazey researcher, Rick Heiser, a link to Agnes Middlemist and gypsies.  Agnes' mother was Isabelle Young...a gypsy.  Is there anyone else on the list who might be connected to Yetholm and gypsies?

John Young to Agnes Lyll, 14 June 1690, cockburnspath.  Agnes and John had a daughter Agnes 5 May 1706.  Looking for siblings of either John or Agnes.  Lyll might have been weavers in the area.    Young name associated with gypsies..

Berwickshire / Gypsy connections

Another Clazey researcher has found a connection between Middlemist and gypsies.  Has anyone else found connections and might recommend ways to research or sources?
