Please my husband has asked if the image of Frank Musgrave be added to the photo of his siblings. I think he wants it all in that Sepia colour. I have included the back of the sepia pic which describes the persons in the photo. Harold Musgrave was my husband's grandfather. Replica medals that Harold received for his war efforts will be framed with the resultant image as a gift for the last surviving child of Harold who will be 94 on 2nd June 2019.
In the black and white photo Francis is the one on the left at the front. An arrow points down to him. I thought a head and shoulder image could be inserted to the right of the sepia photo underneath Murray Musgrave.
My skills with graphic programs are not that great.
Thank You

Could someone please clean up this photo for me?

It looks like there may have been some deterioration as it seems to be ghosted over the image.

Image was available for download from the Australian War Memorial website and states that it is without copyright and in the public domain, so I presume it will be OK to post.

John Marshall Rose (1894-1916) would have been a cousin to my grandmother, and I'd like a nice photo to go with his war and family records.

Thank you

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Decipher writing at bottom of photo
« on: Monday 26 March 18 10:51 BST (UK)  »
Could someone please tell me the words that are written in black at bottom of photo?

What I know: my grandfather is in the photo, W.A. Wiseman, he is the young man standing with mug in hand at the back on the right. The photo may be of a WW1 camp in Bunbury Western Australia, after enlistment at Blackboy Hill. He was originally with the 7th Depot company but was taken on by the 16th Infantry Battalion. Originally in the 16th reinforcements but embarked with the 25th as he was under age. In other photos written with white ink, information given is place, date and a comment.

Thank you

Ireland / Nurse Registration
« on: Friday 05 January 18 15:32 GMT (UK)  »
Please where would I go to find out about Nurses. The years I am looking at are between 1920 to 1960. If they were registered, and they also were a Nun, were they too registered. I am in Australia so hopefully there is something on line.

Her name was Dora Mitchell b1888 Kilroosk Leitrim
Known as Sister M Benedict of the Bon Secours Order
Took her Final Vows 1924 in Paris
Trained as a nurse
I know as a Nun she was in different places over those years.
I have her movements between 1936 and 1949
Died Dublin 1954

Nothing much more I know.
Thank you

London and Middlesex / Writing place names-query to decide on a death.
« on: Tuesday 03 January 17 23:03 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching The family of Henry Emmanuel Mills, his wife Ann Fish and their ancestors and descendants. They come from the London, Middlesex area. I am wanting to know how I accurately list the places for the era 1880 and before.

Here is an example:
Parish or Poor Law Union: Clapton Park All Saints , Borough: Hackney

Do I put "Clapton Park All Saints , Hackney, London" or "Clapton Park All Saints , Hackney, Middlesex" or something completely different?

Another example from the above is address for abode just states "93 Oswald St" is this in Hackney?

As I am in Australia these places are just names that I can locate on a google map but it doesn't tell me what the area was called or how to write an address for that time.

My particular interest (other than being correct) in the above is that they had a child in 1882 but that child was not on the passenger list when they immigrated in 1885. I have found two children of the same name in the death indexes but can not work out which is the one.

a note I made

Two Frederick George Mills died in Jan 1883 one from Hackney, London and the other Marylebone, London on Ancestry

I have attached his baptismal entry. At the time they were living at that address 93 Oswald St but they also had come from Marylebone. Hence my dilemma.

Thank you

Please could someone please help here with restoring

1. My grandparents Alex and Jessie Wiseman in abt 1936 of Kulja, Western Australia. Now this is not a photograph but a photocopy of a photograph. If something can be done that'd be great to make it look better.

2. My dad John and his brother Pat abt 1930, same place as above. This was scanned from a copy of the original photo.

To upload, the images are smaller in dimensions, but kept the resolution at 600x600ppi, thought it might help.

I know they are not the best but I do not know who has the originals. These are what was given to me and I would like them to be in a little better condition.

Thank you

Australia / Seeking photograph of a Bag House - a house made of hessian
« on: Sunday 04 December 16 00:19 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for a picture of a special type of house. I am trying to reconstruct a photo I have seen but nobody knows what happened to it. I want to see a photo of a bag house. They were made of hessian. I recall the photo but to reconstruct it, I need to at least have something to go by. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

My father's family were farming at Kulja, Western Australia, between 1927 and 1936. They lived in a house made from hessian or fertiliser bags. I very much would like to see a photo that I can relate to in my reconstruction of the one I remember.

In the West Australian newspaper in 1928, a journalist, Mr Simmonds wrote
“I shall always remember the little brown hessian township of Kulja, up in the newly-developed wheatbelt. It is six months old. There is a hessian cafe— ... There is a hessian store, a butcher's shop, a gramophone that plays modern fox-trots — and a Progress Association. All around are green acres of growing wheat, rustling in the breeze where, only a little time ago, was nothing but dense scrub and sand. At first sight a hopeless proposition! In Kulja we saw, as it were, the birth of a township. And a proud resident said to me 'In a year we'll have a real brick town hall here.' Perhaps it may be more than a year.”

This photo is a little faded could someone please make it look clearer.

The man is Archibald Young, born 1900 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland. I think the picture was taken in the 1940's, not positive though.

Family History Beginners Board / Researching a Royal Physician
« on: Saturday 01 October 16 15:33 BST (UK)  »
What records would I need to look at to find out when a person was appointed to the service of Queen Victoria as a doctor? Are these on-line or would I need to get someone to look for me? I am in Western Australia.
