I have a baptism for Thomas Willicy at St Anne’s Woodplumpton on 14 May 1749 (lancs opc) It states ‘Notes: The Court May 24 1749 written after this entry’. Can anyone please tell me what it could refer to as I have never come across that before? Many thanks as always

Lancashire / Looking for Cooper Baptisms St Peters RC Lancaster
« on: Tuesday 02 November 21 14:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hi. Does anyone have access to baptism records for St Peters RC Church Lancaster? In particular, I am looking for Mary Cooper, James Cooper, John Cooper and Margaret Cooper births ranging from 1815-1825 father Thomas Cooper, joiner, and Margaret. I have seen a James Cooper bapt 1817 Father House joiner, on Lancs opc which could be one of them. The family were Catholic, and settled in Preston, but on 1871 census, John Cooper gives his birth as Lancaster, living at Church St, Preston, Occupation cott mill joiner. Many thanks as always

United States of America / Looking for my Reynolds Family
« on: Friday 30 April 21 12:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi. Can anyone please help me locate my Reynolds family after 1870? According to a passenger list they were on the City of Washington Ship 17 July 1865, Patrick Reynolds, Ellen Reynolds Wife, Sarah Reynolds Daughter and Hugh Reynolds Son. In 1870 they are listed in District 14 Brooklyn, Patrick being a plasterer. That’s where my trail ends. I have discovered a family living in Connecticut, but have discounted them as they were there in 1870. Some background info, Patrick Reynolds, widower, married Ellen Pinder, nee Green, widow, in Manchester 1860. Their births are about 1825, born Ireland. In both 1870 census they are living with Ellen’s niece Maria Durkin and husband James.Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Lancashire / Owen Mahon 1851 Chorlton on Medlock
« on: Wednesday 21 April 21 17:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi. Could anyone help me find Owen Mahon in the 1851 Manchester census please. He was the brother to my 3x great grandmother, Catherine Mahon. Born in Ireland in about 1826, his address in the 1841 census was James Leigh St. He married Ellen White in 1843 giving his address as James St, father Michael Mahon. I have reason to believe he died in 1853 at the age of 27. Whilst I realise that the 1851 census was badly damaged, if any kind person has the resources to do a look up for me, it would be very much appreciated. Many thanks as always.

Hi. I have a photo of my grandfather, Joseph Rigby, 9th Lancers, dated about 1920, on a carte postale. On the reverse side to the left, is very feint writing which is only visible when the image is darkened. As I only have the technology of my phone, I was wondering if anyone could make it more readable. I understand if it’s not possible. Also was the carte postale only used in France? Many thanks as always.

Lancashire / Alice Ann Kay 8 Simpson St Burnley
« on: Tuesday 02 February 21 10:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hi. I think I may have hit a brick wall here, but maybe someone can help. Alice Ann Kay born 1865 had 2 children, Edward 1884 and James Wallace 1887. Both birth certificates have no father listed. In her subsequent marriage in 1896 to Rueben Greenwood she is a spinster. All her siblings at that time were living in the adjacent street, Stock Street. Her parents had both died by 1884, her father being the last in 1884, abode Tunstall St. My questions! Is there any way of finding who was also living at 8 Simpson St between 1884 and 1887, as nothing is relatable in the 1881 and 1891 census? Would an unmarried mother, weaver, living alone, be admitted to the workhouse for the births? This really is my last effort to find more, so hopefully someone can help. Many thanks as always.

Hi. Can anyone please make out the first word of the paragraph please. It relates possibly to a medical diagnosis of James Green. In 1918, on discharge he was sent to the ‘asylum’ in Lancaster, where he remained until his death in 1964.

I think it reads:-

...... constitutional aggravated by stress of campaign ...... capacity assessed 16th ? recommended for treatment in asylum.

It has been a difficult one to read. It has been edited to be in any hope of making sense of it. Many thanks as always.
