Angus (Forfarshire) / David Haxton & Jane Milne Manor st. Forfar
« on: Thursday 02 March 17 12:25 GMT (UK)  »
I am interested in contacting any descendants of David Haxton 1878-1960 and his wife Jane Neil Milne 1881-1963 who lived in Manor Street Forfar towards the end of their lives.  I have family tree information (a lot) that I should like to share.

I am trying to find the maiden name of Maria, the wife of Richard Belles Cooper.  Cooper was  baptised St Philips Birmingham on 7 Jan 1803.  They had 3 children, all baptised at New Jerusalembir Summer Lane Birmingham.  Ann (bapt 10 Oct 1829) Richard (bapt 27 Feb 1831) and Anne Maria (bapt 13 Jul 1834).  Hence I believe Richard & Maria were likely to have married in the few years before 1829.  I am not sure where they married.

The Coopers were spur makers based in Moland Street.  In 1818 the company was Rock & Cooper, spur makers.  Later it became Cooper and Sons, spur, bit and stirrup makers.  I suspect the Coopers & Rocks may have intermarried at some point, perhaps before this.  I cannot find a marriage record for Richard Belles Cooper.  Maria stated on various documents that she was born in Birmingham, Warks.

If anyone can suggest lines of enquiry I should be very grateful.

I'd be very grateful for any pointers on records of transportation to and return from Australia.  An ancestor went to New South Wales in 1801, we think, became pregnant and had a daughter on Mauritius (or Isle de France as it was called) in about 1809 on her way back home. We wonder if this was a case of transportation, although she would have been very young when she went to NSW (about 10).

They both returned to Gloucestershire, and the daughter's birthplace was listed as Isle of France on a census form.  The mother's name was Mary Bowden b about 1791 in Gloucestershire, and the daughter was Ann Roderick Bowden.  I can find nothing in the criminal records on Anc???ry.co.uk

If anyone else has done similar research and knows of any sources of information it would be great.

Perthshire / Comrie - Elizabeth Dundas McGregor/Macgregor
« on: Wednesday 17 February 16 15:40 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find out about my 2nd great grandmother Elizabeth Dundas MacGregor, born in Comrie, Perthshire in 1825. I would like to know why her second name is Dundas, as this often (but not always) indicates a family connection on a mother or grandmother's side of the family. Her mother was Ann Drummond, her father Gregor McGregor, her husbands Peter Stobie and later John Johnman. Any information or advice about this would be very welcome.  Thanks.

Hi. I have moved this post to the Oxforshire forum as I initially put it on the beginners board by mistake.  Sorry!
