Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Y chromosome test
« on: Friday 27 July 18 14:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,
I've been looking for living family of my grandad over the last few years and have finally discovered an individual who may be my cousin.
In order to show that we share the same grandad I'm thinking of having a Y Chromosome test done. Has anyone had this test done and if so can you recommend a company who i could contact to carry out the test.
Thanks.

England / search for great grandmothers parents
« on: Tuesday 15 May 18 16:15 BST (UK)  »
Iím trying to trace the parents of my great grandmother Edith Williment who married Wilson May on 26/9/1892.
I found a B.Cert for Edith 1871 born Norwich and I contacted the GRO to obtain it: Vol 4b, Page 156, Qtr 2 but they have been unable to find it. The marriage certificate shows her father to be Jacob Williment a labourer. The marriage taking place in Newcastle upon Tyne. As I canít get her B.Cert I donít know her motherís name.
The 1861 census shows a Jacob Williment who is a labourer in Norwich with a wife Sophia. Unfortunately Edith is not on this Census as sheís not yet born. I canít find Jacob Williment on the 1881 and 1891 census and therefore canít make a link with the Jacob Iíve found.
Anyone with any advice? Thanks in advance.

Hi all, i wish to contact a potential family member to assist in confirming whether a person i've traced is my late grandfather.

Does anyone have an example of a letter that might help me make this first contact?

Thanks.
