Family History Beginners Board / Seelig family
« on: Sunday 21 February 16 10:06 GMT (UK)  »
Many moons ago I was married to a Seelig I have kept the name as I have children and there was no need to change it. I did start a family search but it seems that the family members who have now gone did not approve ...strange isn't it. Anyway here I am again I have found an EMMA SEELIG in the 1901 census at the age of 62 and it gives birthplace as Germany underneath British Subject. I believe she was sent out of the way to England mid nineteenth century and having had the child George Seelig she died a spinster.
I have found a death EMMA ALINA SEELIG Dec Qu 1906 Uttoxeter age 68 birth year 1868   SORRY 1838     correction.... 6B 235 240..............When I did this before I am sure I discovered a will and where she was buried and these are two things I would like to find. Also how could I find her parents and date of birth,,,it would be amazing for my family to know where their roots have come from Thanks for your expert help

Family History Beginners Board / RELATIONSHIP
« on: Wednesday 17 February 16 13:52 GMT (UK)  »
Today I am concentrating on a relationship between DORIS ELIZABETH SIMPSON born 1916 and a lady she was in a house with called MARY A HASLAM living at 79 Alfred street Nottingham. The second name..... Mary was born 25th August 1860 and died Quarter September 1947 aged 87.
This lady could have been born a ROLPH or a SIMPSON as that was Doris's mothers and fathers surnames. Of course she may be no relation at all but I seem to think that Doris was bought up by a relation after her mother died at the age of 2 and half. Trying to piece together her life and this lady may open another door
Thank you for your time and expertise ...

Family History Beginners Board / way forward
« on: Wednesday 17 February 16 09:55 GMT (UK)  »
At night whilst trying to sleep I always get my best ideas on the way forward, I am ready to join a specialized group to help in my research These are the things I am looking for military records from the early 1900's military records from the 2nd world war would like those to include names and dates of prisoners of war in Japenese camps.
OK I need the name and address records taken in 1939 ...sorry cant remember what they are called but know they aren't a census. I want to be able to check family census and would like ones with birthdates at the side if that is possible and would like this to be included in the initial fee not having to pay any extra. You can pm me if you would like to and I will be very happy to hear your suggestions Thanks for the great help you have given me..... its time this bird was flying anf I feel that this is the way to go.

Family History Beginners Board / Simpson
« on: Friday 12 February 16 17:04 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for any information on a Doris Elizabeth Simpson born 29th September 1916 and died 29th December 1997. A sad story as this is my partners mother and yet he knows nothing about her. He has two relatives he knows about an Aunty Elsie who was married to a Walter Burton and had two sons both born in the Nottingham area. But he doesn't know the connection to them whether they are sisters or brothers to his mother. We then have a Florence married to an Ernest and they also had a son. I believe Elsie and Walter were married 1939 ...Doris Elizabeth Simpson was never married . I have found one birth for a Doris E Simpson in 1916 and the mothers surname was Rolph. Great name as unusual spelling when I research this it looks like there may have been three brothers who would all be my partners uncles but he has never heard them mentioned. Thomas.... William    and Leonard doesn't it just pull at your heart strings...I do believe that Doris may have been brought up by her gran I wonder if the boys were a handful and this was an answer to the problem the mother found herself in I have no idea which Rolph it is to find the mothers first name . The area I presume is Nottingham or even Nottinghamshire. Any help or pointers will be appreciated. I cannot believe this wasn't discussed as my partner was brought up such a shame to miss out on a whole family So looking forward to hearing from anyone with any answers.
