I am trying to trace for a distant cousin of mine who lives in Australia, what happened to Annie Stead who married her Grandfather Percival Taylor in 1919.  Annie was living at 255 Burley Road in Leeds at the time and Annie and Percival were married in the Parish Church in Burley.

There may have been a child of the marriage Ann, who my cousin is also anxious to trace as this would have been her Mother’s half-sister.  Percival got married again to May Schofield on his “death bed” in Littleborough, Lancashire in 1952.  Nothing is known of what happened to Annie or the possible child after 1919.

If anyone knows what happened to either of them, I would be most grateful, and I’m sure my cousin would be also.

Can anyone remove the "blemish" from the forehead on the photograph of my 4 x Great-Grandfather's daughter Elizabeth Taylor ?

I think she's just received her Gas Bill.   

Catherine McKenna, my Great-Grandmother, was born in Ireland in the mid 1830’s.  She came over to England from Ireland in the 1840’s and lived with her sister, Margaret McKenna  who was 14 years older than her, and her husband Bernard Hughes in Birkenhead near Liverpool.  In 1854 Catherine married my Great-Grandfather, William Taylor in Liverpool, and eventually settled in Rochdale, near Manchester, where she died in 1896.  Catherine’s father was Richard McKenna, and his occupation was “Corn Factor”.

On all the Census Returns from 1851 to 1881 it merely says she was born in Ireland, but on the 1891 it says she was born in Dublin.

Any help anyone can throw on the date and place of her Birth or Baptism would be much appreciated.

Can anyone help me find the second “missing” child of John Thomas Taylor and Mary Ellen Turner ?

According to the 1911 Census, my Grandparents, John Thomas Taylor and Mary Ellen Turner had four children.  I know the two who survived, Ronald and Percy, and of the two who died, I have identified Elsie, who was born 16th January 1904 and who died in January 1905, but I cannot find the second child who died before 1911.

John Thomas Taylor and Mary Ellen Turner were married at St. Stephen’s, Countess of Huntingdon’s Connextion Church, in Rochdale, on 17th September 1898.  I have searched the GRO records for children, with a Surname of Taylor and a Mother’s Maiden Surname of Turner, born in Rochdale in between 1898 and who died before 1911 and come up with three, Bertha born in 1899, Elsie born in 1904 and Doris, also born in 1904.  We know about Elsie, but Bertha and Doris are not related to us.

I am at a loss to know what to do next.  None of the descendents of John Thomas Taylor and Mary Ellen Turner, other than myself, are alive, so there is no-one to ask.  Any help would be most appreciated.

My Great-Grandmother, Elizabeth Bamford, was born in Rochdale on 29th January 1839 and baptised at St. Chad’s Church on 9th June 1839.  Neither her Birth Certificate, nor her Baptismal Record, names Elizabeth’s Father.  Her Mother was Alice Whitworth, who was married to a Richard Bamford.  Richard Bamford died in 1836, three years before Elizabeth was born, so I have a sneaking suspicion that he may not be my Great-Grandfather.

Can anyone suggest how I might find out who my Great-Grandfather was?  I have enquired at St. Chad’s, but they don’t have the Parish Chest Records going back to 1839.  I have also enquired at Touchstones in Rochdale, but they don’t know the where-abouts of any 1800’s “Bastardy Records”.

Any help or suggestions anyone has, would be most appreciated.
