US Lookup Requests / William S Brisby look up
« on: Sunday 10 November 19 18:29 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for William Stewart Brisby born in Belfast, Ireland 19th May 1898. His family moved to the states, I'm not sure when but at a guess I'd say 1920s.

I believe he was a marine engineer and possibly joined the United States Navy, I'm looking for any military info, thanks.

World War Two / Merchant Navy
« on: Thursday 17 May 18 16:39 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find WW2 military info on my great uncle Thomas Pickering Kennedy (B: 1918), his son has informed me that while serving he was torpedoed and was one of only a few survivors.

He first thought the ship was the HMS Hood but he is not one of the three named survivors, so I'm trying to find a way to discover which ship he may have served on.

Any help would be great once again!

Northumberland / Kennedy Family
« on: Wednesday 25 April 18 15:27 BST (UK)  »
I'm currently trying to decipher the Kennedy side of my family.

My 2x great grandfather was William Joseph (sometimes Stewart) Kennedy born 1878 (unknown location), for a long time now we thought his father was named Stewart Kennedy but after receiving W.J Kennedy's marriage certificate it seems his father is named as Joseph David Kennedy (deceased).

I'm having trouble finding either on an census thanks to the Kennedy name, I wonder if anyone can help me figure out a way to narrow down the results as it's starting to drive me mad  ???

The Marriage between W.J Kennedy and Kate Annie Pickering took place in Tynemouth 1916, both father and son were engineers.

Thanks in advance!

Edited to add Certificate Details:

Marriage: 19th April 1916
William Joseph Kennedy | 38 | Bachelor | Engineer | 10 Church Way | Joseph David Kennedy (deceased) | Engineer

Kate Annie Pickering | 22 | Spinster | N/A | 10 Church Way | Thomas Pickering (deceased) | Plater

In the Presence of: James G Henderson and Linda Henderson

Durham / Littlewood's of Rowlands Gill
« on: Wednesday 11 April 18 18:30 BST (UK)  »
This is a long shot but I am trying to find a photograph of my Great Grandfather Menelaus/Menelaws Littlewood born 1892 Tow Law died 1926 Rowlands Gill.

I know nothing of his side of the family apart from his daughter, Doris (my nana) and her sister Elsie. He died when my nana was only 6 years old and her mother Violet remarried in the 30s and moved to Coventry. I know from the 1911 census that he had 7 siblings so even if anyone knows anything about them or a photo would be amazing!

Other Countries / Brazil Marriage/Death records?
« on: Tuesday 07 February 17 16:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I'm trying to find a death record for my great uncle:

Thomas Pickering Kennedy
Born: 1918 Willington Quay, Northumberland

I know he married a lady called Maria (from Brazil) but I have no idea when or where.
I guess I would just like some help or advice as to how I can find records from Brazil, or if it is even possible.

Thanks

Armed Forces / help with uniform (WWI?)
« on: Friday 08 July 16 13:47 BST (UK)  »
My family has a photo of Uncle Ralph Barron and we can't seem to find any military information about him on Ancestry. I'm assuming it's more likely to be first world war than second because of the flags but his uniform for me isn't giving anything away so I would just like to share and see if anyone has any ideas.

Sadly all that is written on the back is "Poor Uncle Ralph". We also have no idea why it says that, we don't know if he died in the war or was injured because our research is coming up with nothing.

Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated.
