Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help needed with Italian Grave Inscription
« on: Wednesday 06 March 24 14:54 GMT (UK)  »
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/234172230/carlo-pallotti

A good while back I added a Jesmond Old Cemetery memorial for a Carlo Palloti to Find a Grave.
Someone has since added a photo of the memorial.
I have now been contacted by someone in Australia who thinks this person may be their ancestor.  They have asked about the inscription which is not easy to make out.  They think this might help ascertain if this is their ancestor if the inscription can be worked out.

I have made a start at trying to work out what this records.  However, I am not 100% I am putting the correct words.  It would be good to help this possible descendant out if possible.

I am just wondering if anyone can make this out better than I can and also if anyone is able to translate from Italian to English this would be even better again.
Thanks for reading.  Any help will be most appreciated.

Canada / William Gilbert Renner died 25 Sept 1928- where is he?
« on: Friday 15 December 23 07:50 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can make sense of this memorial and be able to help locate the burial of 'soldier' William Gilbert Renner who is recorded as having  died on 25 September 1928.

I obtained this inscription below from a book of memorial inscriptions (held at Newcastle City library local studies) for St Paul's Church, Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear.  I have added these people as memorials on Find a Grave for the benefit of others; they are not related to me.  The volume records that the majority of memorials were cleared.  As I live in the area, I know that this is no longer in the Churchyard so it must have been one of the many cleared ones.

I have since been informed by someone willing to help that there is no Woodburn Cemetery and that the staff at 'Woodlawn Cemetery' have no record of said person in a soldier's plot.

Can anyone help locate him?  This is the memorial inscription which is recorded as having once existed at St Paul, Whitley Bay:

'In loving memory of William beloved husband of Fanny Elizabeth Renner who died Feb 9th 1927 aged 70
William Gilbert their eldest son who died Sept 25th 1928 aged 40
Interred in the soldiers plot Woodburn Cemetery, Saskatson Canada
Evelyn Mary their 2nd daughter
Harold Ralph their 4th son who both died in infancy'

Any help with this will be very much appreciated.  Thank you.

The Stay Safe Board / Diary Summary Week Ending 20 August 2023
« on: Monday 14 August 23 16:53 BST (UK)  »
Well, it looks like I get to start the thread again this week ..

Managed to get to Church yesterday; it was my first Sunday off in several weeks.  Still no word yet of a new Pastor.
I went to my hairdressers this morning to see if there was a sign up or anything about when it might reopen.  Online it is still saying 'temporarily closed'.  Workmen there gave me the shock news that it isn't going to reopen!  They are turning the premises into a flat!😱
I am very sorry that my hairdresser seems to have gone out of business. :'(  I know things never picked up again after covid.  She was a really nice person, and always had a lovely manner about her.  I am not looking forward to looking around for another hairdresser. :-\  I won't get time this week so I'll have to put up with yet another week of covid hair until my new rota comes out soon.
Then I went to Shields.  There is a long notice pinned up in Wilkos from their CEO.  I stopped to read it in parts and it sounded a bit like a goodbye letter but it didn't seem totally clear on it.  I went to ask a member of staff who said the store will continue trading for now but it is all up in the air with regards to closure - they are uncertain about what is happening.
It is a cold, grey day and the rain has been chucking it down all day.  It is like the world is crying about there being too many endings.  Today definitely has a Monday feel about it.
I'm on nightshift tonight.
