Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Occupation from 1885
« on: Wednesday 26 February 20 13:23 GMT (UK)  »
I have attached a section of a marriage record from which I'm unable to make out the middle word of the grooms occupation. I can clearly read Packing and Journeyman but the middle word, other than the end which I believe is 'maker', I can't make out.
Any ideas anyone?

I've attached a clipping from a marriage register which took place in Maryhill, Glasgow in 1903.
I can't make out the location of the marriage - looks like 57 ? Avenue in Glasgow. Also, I can't make out where the bride's usual residence is other than Etive Cottage. I've tried searches for both without success so I'm hoping you can come up with suggestions.
(Both bride & groom were born on the Isle of Skye which may be a help with Etive Cottage.)
Many thanks.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Cause of death unreadable
« on: Wednesday 19 February 20 13:45 GMT (UK)  »
The attached section of a death register refers to a death in 1855.
It's virtually unreadable to me and the only parts I can make out are 'following the long' and '14 days'.
I'd appreciate any help if possible.
Many thanks

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Duration of causes of death
« on: Tuesday 18 February 20 09:27 GMT (UK)  »
The attached is a section of a cause of death from 1879.
I can read it all except for the durations of both causes so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Occupation from marriage register COMPLETED.
« on: Wednesday 12 February 20 16:57 GMT (UK)  »
Attached is a clip from the marriage register of John McMillan & Agnes McDonald, married 1871 in Inverness-shire.
I'm struggling with John's occupation and the line between Agnes's name and her occupation.
Any ideas anyone?

Lanarkshire / North Northside Road, Glasgow in 1880
« on: Wednesday 12 February 20 11:33 GMT (UK)  »
Not sure if this is the correct forum for this question but here goes.

Has anyone ever heard of the above road which I have as being the location of birth of my great-aunt's husband Robert Duncanson. He was born in 1880 at 3 North Northside Road, Glasgow but I cannot find any trace of it during the usual searches. (According to the birth register it was in the Milton area of Glasgow.)
Any information much appreciated.
Thanks

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / William Glencross (Seaforth Highlanders)
« on: Saturday 08 February 20 17:42 GMT (UK)  »
Attached is a photograph of my great-uncle Willie Glencross in his (I believe) Seaforth Highlanders uniform. He was then attached to the Machine Gun Corps and was killed in 1916 at, we believe, Delville Wood during the battle of the Somme.
The photograph is surprisingly 'clean' without all the usual associated marks etc but I'd appreciate if any improvements can be made.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / William Edwin Clark bn 1880 Ohio
« on: Tuesday 04 February 20 09:27 GMT (UK)  »
Attached is an application for Parish relief in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire by William Clark who was born c1880 in the USA (possibly Ohio).
He moved to Lanarkshire, Scotland where he married my cousin 3x removed in Motherwell, 1905.
I can read the entire document except for the Parish & County in the USA where he was born and I'd be grateful for any help.
Many thanks.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Kate Thomson Watson
« on: Monday 27 January 20 13:20 GMT (UK)  »
Attached is a photograph of my great-aunt Kate Thomson Watson, born 1898 in Glasgow.
The photograph isn't too bad considering it's about 100 years old but I'd appreciate any improvement,
especially in removing the the vertical mark which runs through the image.
Thanks guys.
