Yorkshire (West Riding) / Where is/was Slackwaite Chapel, Almondbury, Yorkshire?
« on: Sunday 08 March 20 17:45 GMT (UK)  »
When I browse the images in the Ancestry dataset "West Yorkshire, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1512-1812" for the parish Almondbury, All Hallows I can see there are records for several different chapelries. One of the chapelries looks like "Slackwaite". I thought this might be another name from Slaithwaite but those records are listed in "Slaithwaite with East Scammonden, St James" and do not appear to be the same.

I'm just trying to understand where Slackwaite Chapel was exactly.

Denbighshire / Denbigh burials 1845 and 1869
« on: Friday 11 January 19 18:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, a question that someone with local knowledge might be able to help me with please. According to https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/DEN/Denbigh/churches there are 4 churches in Denbigh. I'm trying to determine which churchyard my ancestors were buried in. Dates are 15 Apr 1845 and 19 Jan 1869 and the Parish is just listed as Denbigh.

The Common Room / Who is the Duchess?
« on: Sunday 01 July 18 10:46 BST (UK)  »
The attached newspaper clipping has been handed down in my family. The little girl in the drawing is my great grandmother b.1890. I'm trying to work out who the Duchess is and what the event might be?

From the text on the reverse I think I've worked out that the clipping comes from The Daily Graphic on the 26th March 1896. Unfortunately, www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk only has "The Graphic" weekly paper not the "The Daily Graphic".

Any assistance greatly appreciated,

Best regards,

Gavin

My ggg grandfather William Turner died in 1905 leaving £31k (worth ~£3.6m in today's money according to https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/monetary-policy/inflation) in his will.

I'm having a hard time understanding his will. I could do with a version in Plain English if anyone can help? Obviously, what I'd really like to know is what happened to all the money. I'd particularly like to try to get some idea of what, if anything, my g grandfather got and when?

Transcribed copy of his will is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/13WslmhyjCkxm__UmlspJpMtjSzrueiOTVntisGT3qpo/edit?usp=sharing

Background information:
My ggg grandfather William Turner d.1905
My gg grandfather George Turner d.1904 (predeceased his father).
My g grandfather also named William Turner b.1899 (last of 7 children) m.1920

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Gavin William Rayner
(middle name after my g grandfather)
