Lancashire Lookup Requests / Can a census be searched by district
« on: Monday 07 September 20 16:09 BST (UK)  »
Is it possible to search a census by the district/area.
I am attempting to find the licencee/landlord of a public house/beerhouse called the "Boat Inn" at a small hamlet called Hollins Green near Flixton, Warrington, Lancashire from 1841 to 1891 as part of a  history research project I am carrying out.  I do think the pub was probably demolished when the Manchester Ship canal was completed in 1894 as the course of the canal swallowed up a section of the River Mersey where the Boat House was situated, it stood by a ferry that would no longer be require when the canal was completed.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Heath Lodge, Green Lane, Padgate.
« on: Saturday 21 March 20 07:37 GMT (UK)  »
I am attempting to help the management of a home for the mentally challenged of Heath Lodge situated on Green Lane, Padgate, Warrington, Lancashire (now in Cheshire due to a administrative boundary change in the 1970's) however for search purposes it will be Lancashire. They are attempting to find out the history of the large house and contacted me to see if I could help but all that I have managed to establish is that the building was built between 1893 and 94 so I wish to find who was living there in 1901 and would really appreciate if it would be possible for someone to research it perhaps if they had access to the 1901 and 1911 census's. The building was situated on  Green Lane  with the corner of Lambs Lane in Padgate, Warrington. Thank you, Algy.
