Europe / Help with Norwegian translation for parish arrival record
« on: Friday 16 June 17 03:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi, just wondering if anybody can please help with deciphering/translating the attached Lillehammer parish arrival record for Johanna Danielsdotter and Johan Edvard Winger (#3 and 4 on the left hand side, under the year 1857). All I can make out is that Johanna came from Gotheborg and that they are both living in Lillehammer.

Appreciate any help!

Thanks  :)

Hi, I'm needing some help deciphering the two places listed as residence at time of marriage on my 3x great grandparents marriage certificate. They married in Ballintoy Church, County Antrim in 1863 and Robert was born in Ballycastle.

Apologies for the poor resolution (as good as it gets I'm afraid!). The first one looks like "Lough a very" and the second one "Mahernahare" or "Mahernahale", but Google brings up no results.

Any suggestions? Thanks

New Zealand Completed Requests / Trying to trace descendants of Charles Walter Reed
« on: Saturday 21 January 17 23:34 GMT (UK)  »
Have been contacted by a lady trying to find the children or grandchildren (if any) of Charles Walter Reed and Myra Edith Hartnoll, who married in 1933. Charles died in Northland (possibly Kerikeri) in 1978 and Myra in Kerikeri in 1999.

This lady has found a box of family mementos, photos, letters etc from Charles' father, Charles Edward Reed, and would love to pass these on to his descendants.

Haven't been able to find records of any births to this couple given the time period, but wondered if names may have been mentioned in death notices?

If anyone can help, please PM me.

Thanks  :)

Hoping someone can help with the actual marriage record for Frank Chatfield and Sophia Louisa Akester in Hull St James on 8 August 1881.

Transcriptions of the marriage record say Frank's father is Francis Chatfield. The Frank I'm trying to trace had a mother called Frances, and his father, Henry was deceased (back in 1867).

Just wondering if Frank's mother Frances was recorded as the 'father' on the marriage record instead? Also, who the witnesses are?

Appreciate any help with this

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Chatfield family missing from 1871 England census
« on: Thursday 22 December 16 20:08 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I have been trying in vain to locate my widowed 3x great grandmother, Frances/Fanny Chatfield (nee Apps) and her 4 children in the 1871 census.

Frances' husband, Henry Chatfield, died in 1867 in Cheam, Surrey. In the 1861 census, the family was living in Cheam where Henry was a railway labourer. Frances remarried in 1876, to Charles Spice in Luton, Kent.

Frances was born in Rye, Sussex c. 1828. Her children were all born in Cheam - Frances/Fanny in 1857, Frank in 1858, Caroline in 1861 and Mary Ann in 1863. My 2x great grandmother, Frances/Fanny, emigrated to Australia in 1874. I know Caroline married in London in 1883, and I have been able to find Mary Ann working as a servant in Bognor Regis in the 1881 census.

I have looked at the entire 1871 census for Cheam but not found them there. I have also checked a transcription for the Epsom Union Workhouse census return and not found them there either. Tried searching the entire census on 3 different websites using first names only as well as surname only with wide birth date ranges but still no joy. Where is it likely that a widow with young children would have gone??

Any help or advice much appreciated!
