How would I go about finding a burial (or headstone inscription) for an interment at St Marcella’s Church Denbigh in 1844?  I’ve looked at Gravestone Photo Records for Denbigh but they all seem very recent, so I assume they are not completed yet. I am looking for a grave containing three members of a Parry family: Thomas (32 yrs) died Denbigh, buried 19th Jan 1801, his infant son Thomas, died Denbigh and buried 1798 and wife and mother Sarah died Llanfair DC in 1844 but I’m fairly sure she would have been buried with her family at St Marcella’s Denbigh. One of the objects of the exercise is to find her age at the time of death. Thanks DavidJ

The file contains bundles of useful information on Wills, Land Transactions etc etc submitted to the Powys Archives by various solicitors, covering 17c to recent times. Very worthwhile as a reference source.

George Herbert Lewis born 10th April 1877 at Fieldhouse, Clent. His father is George Lewis a Coachman and his mother is Emily Lewis formerly Matthews. He is Baptised at Clent on January 27th 1878. He next appears in the 1881 census aged 3 in the household of Thomas Roberts at Birtley in Hatton, Church Stretton, he is grandson of Margaret (nee Lewis), I think he was here because his mother had died.
1881 Census for Belbroughton Worcs (nr Clent) there is a George Lewis (30) born Berkley, Shropshire (no Berkley in Salop so I assume Birtley) he is a horse breaker and living in the household of William Mountford, a Boot & Shoe maker, he’s married to William’s daughter Emily and they have an infant daughter (Lewis) aged 1 month (later Lizzie).
What I am trying to establish is did George Lewis marry Emily Matthews before Emily Mountford (he married the 2nd Emily on 7/3/1880).

I’m looking for the occupants of Faraway (house or farm) around the mid 1800’s. The property still exists today and is just beyond Pentre Isaf on the Hafod Bilston track which runs from Pentre Bwlch to The Plough. At the beginning of the last century Captain Best lived there (1903 when it was known as Plas Faraway). In 1909 a Miss Dewhurst of Faraway donated an Altar Service book to Llandegla Parish Church. I am guessing that it was part of the Bodidris Estate. Surprisingly, there is no mention of it in the millennium publication: “Llandegla Then and Now”. I would be interested if anyone has information about earlier occupants.
