Lancashire / Linoleum Factory Openshaw Manchester

Can anyone help please?
My great grandfather William Wilson b 1854 in Dysart Fife worked as a floorcloth block printer in Kirkcaldy up until around 1883. He then appears on the 1891 census at 42 Neden street Openshaw as an oilcloth printer.
Does anyone know of a lino factory in or near Openshaw back in 1880s/1890s?

Armed Forces / Medical record
« on: Thursday 05 November 20 11:25 GMT (UK)  »
Can anybody help please?
My father served with The Royal Signals Regiment during the 2nd world war, stationed in North Africa.
His medical record shows, in 1940, his category is A1.
By 1942 his medical category is B2.
The term A1 is probably self explanatory but what does B2 mean?
Any help would be appreciated.

The Common Room / Janet Taylor died 15th april 1908 Hebden Bridge Yorkshire
« on: Sunday 25 November 18 16:07 GMT (UK)  »
Can anybody please help?
When Janet Taylor died her death certificate shows she was aged 71, the widow of John Taylor a stonemason. On the 1901 census for Hebden Bridge she was living with her daughter Jessie (maiden name Hardy) and son-in-law Arthur Cockcroft. Her place of birth is recorded as Berwick-upon-Tweed in 1837. I am unable to find her anywhere else in the census record nor a marriage to John Taylor. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Can anybody help me please?
I am trying to find the birth record of Jessie Hardy in 1867. Her father was George Hardy and her mother was Janet (born 1837 in Berwick).
Additionally, any advice on how to trace this family would be much appreciated as they are proving to be difficult to find.

World War Two / Africa Star
« on: Sunday 08 January 17 20:29 GMT (UK)  »
Can anybody help please?
My Father was awarded the Africa Star and I would like to order a replica in his memory.
I understand that 3 versions (clasps) were issued 1st, 8th and the 42-43.
How can I tell which one would be appropriate?
