Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / William Welham & family 1841 census
« on: Tuesday 04 March 14 08:56 GMT (UK)  »

I hope someone can locate William Welham and his wife Elizabeth Carter and family for me in the 1841 census please.

I don't know where William and Elizabeth Welham were born or married, but they had one  son that I know of.
He was Richard Welham, born about 1830-1831 in Newmarket, Cambridgeshire.  On his birth record his father's name was William Williams but we believe it was transcribed wrongly, and should have been written as William Welham.

I would be grateful of some help to sort this out.

Kent Lookup Requests / Bassett Family 1871 census
« on: Wednesday 24 October 12 04:01 BST (UK)  »
My ancestor Henrietta Bassett b.1842 Ightham, Kent and her husband James Bassett  immigrated to New Zealand on the ship "Berar" leaving London in 1874. They traveled with Elizabeth Bassett their 10 year old daughter.

Henrietta (nee) Bennett was working as servant in the Roby household at the time of the 1861 census and married James Bassett in 1869 Malling District.

I would like to know if the child Elizabeth was recorded as Elizabeth Bennett or Elizabeth Bassett at the time of the 1871 census and was she with Henrietta and James Bassett?  I calculate, Elizabeth was born about 1864, somewhere in Kent.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Freear family 1841 census Southwark
« on: Tuesday 09 August 11 03:00 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if someone could find members of the Freear family who lived in Southwark, London.

William Huddleston Freear b. abt. 1790 and his wife (unknown) had about 6 children. They were born in Southwark, between 1813 and 1829.  Sarah b. 1813, Elizabeth b.1818, Hannah Huddleston b. 1820, Ann b. 1825, William b. 1827 and Thomas b. 1829.

Hannah Huddleston Freear b. 1820 immigrated to Cape Town SA, and married in March 1843.

I am wondering if her father William and her 2 brothers, William b. 1827, and Thomas b. 1829, were still living in Southwark at the time of the 1841 census.

I would be most grateful of some help in locating the family

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Census Lookup 1861 & 1871
« on: Tuesday 11 January 11 02:03 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to locate my ancestor, (John Gulley Manby), 2 sisters and their families.
Susannah Manby b. 1830 and Mary Manby b. 1832, were  Bapt. at St James Parish, Liverpool.
I believe both sisters married brothers on the same day, at St Mary, Edge Hill, Lancashire in 1852
Susannah Manby, married, John Clayton Hodson. They had a son Arthur Clayton Hodson b. 1855 Rock-Ferry, Cheshire, he was admitted to Sandbach Grammar School, Cheshire, 4 Aug 1864 at age 9 years, but died 2 years later. The father, John Clayton Hodson's death, is recorded in 'The Lancet' on 9 Sept 1863
Mary Manby married, Launcelot Venerable Hodson. They had a daughter Agnes Hodson b. 1857 Battersea, Surrey.

I would be most grateful if someone could find these to families for me in the 1861 and 1871 census records.

I am wondering if someone can locate my ancestor Mark Nicholls and his family in the 1841 and 1851 census.
Mark was born in about 1792 in Bloxwich he married in 1817 in Shareshill to Frances (Fanny) Ross.  They had about 10 children all born in Bloxwich and Baptized at All Saints Bloxwich.  Some of the children's names were Henry b. 1818,  Mark b. ?, Enoch b. 1833, Emma b. 1835, Joseph b. 1837, Thomas b. 1838.
My problem is that the church register is very smudged and several of the names are hard to read.  I thought that a look at the census records may shed some light on the children's names
I would be most grateful of some help.

They had two children that I know of;  William  b. 1867, he is missing from the 1881 census I can't find him,  and Alfred Albert J.  b. 1871 shoreham, Kent.

I would like to know if the 4 family members are together in the 1871 census. I would be most grateful of some help.
