Sligo / Stephen Barry born Bunduff 1909 and died in Birmingham 1973
« on: Thursday 03 August 23 17:43 BST (UK)  »
I have been trying to locate the death of a Stephen Barry who is in my family tree. I ordered a death certificate for a Stephen James Barry who died in Birmingham on the 24th December 1973 as the date of birth on the index matched up but unfortunately it is not the Stephen Barry that I am looking for.

The death certificate that I have is for a Stephen James Barry, born in Bunduff on 26th December 1910 who was living in Erdington, Birmingham when he died in December 1973. Stephen's occupation was given as a joiner on the death certificate.

I have located the birth registration of a Stephen Patrick Barry, born in Bunduff on 26th December 1909, a year out with the date given at the time of death. The parents were James Barry and Eliza (nee Barry).

He is also listed at age 1 on the 1911 Census.

If you are researching this family and would like the death certificate for Stephen, I would be very happy to pass it on. Just pm me.

Ireland / New database - The Irish Great War Dead Archive
« on: Thursday 11 November 21 19:55 GMT (UK)  »
A new database has been released by Tipperary County Council Library Service, based on extensive research carried out by Military Historian and author, Tom Burnell. The database contains the names and other information about Servicemen with connections to Ireland who died in the Great War, 1914-1918, or as a result of injuries received. Presently, the collection lists Servicemen of the Republic of Ireland, while work to record the names from the six counties of Northern Ireland continues. The database contains not only information from military records but also information from newspaper archives, books etc.

A fantastic resource....sincere thanks to Tom Burnell and to Tipperary County Council.

Dublin / St. Michan's Marriage - their residence or deceased?
« on: Wednesday 07 October 20 16:46 BST (UK)  »
Can anybody help me with deciphering the parents' place of residence on this marriage from St. Michan's, 1866 or does it state that they are deceased? The record I am looking for is the last one of the page, but the screenshot I am attaching is similar and is a little easier to see. (I have considered that they might be deceased - 'mortuus est', but I can see that elsewhere on the page and am unsure if this might be the same.)

I have a death certificate for Elizabeth Coffey who died at 258 Peel Green Road, Eccles in the RD of Barton, Lancaster on 5th January, 1958. Elizabeth was the widow of William Coffey, a railway inspector. The informant was Eva Chinnery, a niece of the same address.

This is not the Elizabeth Coffey that I was looking for. I can post it or scan and email it to you if this Elizabeth is in your tree.

Leitrim / Place of Residence on Marriage Certificate
« on: Tuesday 18 June 19 21:19 BST (UK)  »
Can anybody help with identifying the place of residence of the groom given on this marriage certificate? The marriage took place in Mohill in 1863. If not in Leitrim, could it possibly be in Co. Cavan?

Thanks

Galway / Baptisms in Lettermore
« on: Friday 08 March 19 21:19 GMT (UK)  »
I have been doing some research for a family who emigrated from Lettermore to the United States in the 1880s. I have located Civil Registrations (RD Oughterard) for six siblings, ranging from 1870 to 1881. I am aware that there were two other possible children born during this period but cannot find Civil records for them....possibly not registered. I am looking in particular for a record, birth/baptism of one of two missing children.

I can only locate two corresponding Baptisms in the parish of Lettermullin, one in 1874, the other in 1876. There are two Microfilms covering this period for Lettermullin, each having a different set of entries. I have also searched Baptismal records for Kilgerrill, Killoscobe, Killosolan and Kilmoylan but to no avail. All suggestions welcome.

Mayo / Help with deciphering street names in Kilmore Moy/Ballina
« on: Saturday 01 April 17 15:46 BST (UK)  »
I was wondering if anyone could help me with these places of residence on the marriage records for Kilmore Moy. From looking at the 1901 Census, could the first one be an abbreviation of Garden Street? The second one looks like Red Hill, but as this is the bride's place of residence, Redhill, Co. Mayo seems to far away to be it. Any help is welcome. Thank you.
