Kent / A stray in Essex whose surname I can't read
« on: Saturday 28 July 07 21:48 BST (UK)  »
I was looking through the baptismal registers for Fobbing (on the Thames estuary) and found this one from 1721
A....GE? Ruth d of John and Bridget of {illegible], Kent.
Although I can't give the surname I thought it worth a chance that someone may recognise a possible mising link

Essex Completed Lookup Requests / William Bearman
« on: Monday 03 July 06 21:08 BST (UK)  »
A topic with this heading was started on Essex requests board on 14 March 2006. I tried to attach some scans to it but failed so I have put them here.
I finished off the relevant periods in Barking and to save me typing I've scanned my notes and hopefully they have attached to this. Definitely no BEARMANs but I've picked out names which might have been confused with that name. These few extracts include some examples of how easily names did get confused.
One name is there for someone else

The Common Room / Parish registers and IGI
« on: Thursday 13 April 06 10:29 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone ever compared the baptisms or marriages or burials for a particular parish with the corresponding IGI entries for that parish?
If so, what was your conclusion about accuracy?
Did you find that all the entries for the defined period were included in the IGI?
