Northumberland Lookup Requests / Hall family of Hexham
« on: Thursday 22 September 22 14:10 BST (UK)  »
I have a William Hall born about 1814 in London.  His father is William Hall, a postmaster, no birth date known.  William (1814) marries 4 times and on each occasion gives his father's name as William.
One marriage certificate shows his address as 103 Bishopsgate Street, London. No previous connection was known between these 2 Hall groups.

This address is the residence and business premises of a Thomas Hall, silk mercer.

Thomas was born in Hexham, Northumberland 1795 (+/-1).

Can anyone find me;
1. Any connection between Thomas and William (snr) in Hexham.
2. Parents of Thomas
3. Location  of his birth within the Hexham area.

Canada / Wallace Roland Edgar Hall
« on: Wednesday 26 February 20 16:58 GMT (UK)  »
WRE Hall was born 30.12.1888 in Enfield, Middlesex, England and died 06.10.1952 in Canada where he had emigrated in the early 1900's. He had 8 siblings and in total 3 or 4 emigrated to Canada and the USA.
I believe he had 3 sons, Ron, Wallace R and Fred.
His wife may have been Mary and her nee name may have been Hunt.

I am looking for any info on any of this Hall family if anybody could offer anything. Thanks.

The Common Room / Marriage out of area
« on: Friday 04 October 19 13:38 BST (UK)  »
I have a 4th marriage for an ancestor whose 3 previous wives all died and at least 2 had been married in church.
The ancestor lived in Enfield, Middlesex, certainly from 1839 onwards until his death in 1871.  He is on all the census there.
His 1st & 2nd marriages had been at St Botolphs, Bishopsgate and St Lukes, Old Street.  The 3rd marriage has yet to be found.
The 4th marriage in 1859 is at St Andrew, Holborn. In the 1841 census his wife is living in Enfield with her parents.
Why would they marry in Holborn?

Family History Beginners Board / Old Street

When searching online databases I am frequently confused if I should enter Middlesex or London into the search.
Presently searching for an elusive ancestor in Old Street what should I put?  Or does it not matter in the case of London?

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Thomas Halĺ born Hexham
« on: Saturday 20 July 19 23:24 BST (UK)  »
Could someone please find me any info on Thomas Hall born 1796 in Hexham and any parents.  He appears in London as a linen draper in 1841, a silk mercer in 1851 & 61 and an insurance agent in 1871. He died 15.08.1873.
Possibly he had a brother William who was born around the same time.  William was a postmaster in London.  William's son William (born 1814) and his wife recorded Thomas's address on their marriage certificate, 103 Bishopsgate Road, London
