Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Leicestershire Medieval Village Notes
« on: Monday 21 August 23 03:14 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Does anyone have access to Leicestershire Medieval Village Notes, who would be kind enough to see if there are entries for Claybrooke and Ullesthorpe, please?  I am about to start an online course on medieval local history research, and this would be invaluable information for my case study.
Thanks, Carolyn

Glamorganshire / Wesleyan records Bridgend Circuit
« on: Monday 09 May 22 05:53 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I'm looking for the Bridges family of Llangeinor, Aberkenfig etc from 1891-1907.  They were Wesleyan.  Does anyone know if there are any Bridgend Circuit Wesleyan records online?
Thanks, Carolyn

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Newark Poll Books
« on: Monday 25 April 22 23:39 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Can anyone tell me where I can find a copy of Newark Poll Books 1774, 1790, 1795, published by the Notts Family History Society?  It doesn't look as if they have it any longer.  I can access the 1790 Poll on Ancestry (which has William Harrison, a blacksmith and John Harrison a gardener) but I'm keen to see if there are any Harrisons listed for the other two dates.
Thanks,
Carolyn

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Newark marriage 1792
« on: Friday 01 April 22 19:38 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Can anyone tell me whether the marriage registers exist for Newark St Mary that comprise the printed forms used from 1754?  I have checked the indexes at FindMyPast and Familysearch, also FreeReg entries, all of which confirm this marriage took place, but I have been unable to find the specific info I need regarding the 1792 marriage.  I am trying to ascertain whether George Harrison was a widower when he married Ann Pailing in 1792, the names of the witnesses, whether George was of the parish or from elsewhere and if signed his name or made a mark.
Thanks, Carolyn

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Hearth Tax Twyford
« on: Saturday 09 October 21 22:46 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Does anyone have access to the Hearth Tax Returns for Twyford, please?  I am trying to sort out the various William Newtons/Nutons in the village at that time (possibly the Beeby name too).  If anyone could help, I'd be grateful.
Thankyou.

Cambridgeshire / Cambs Poor Law Records
« on: Saturday 24 April 21 07:24 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I wondered if anyone has the CD Indices Of Cambridgeshire Poor Law Papers, Master and Apprentices, Settlement and Bastardy Papers?  I'm interested to know if it mentions any poor law records for the year 1787 Thorney Abbey.  I'm happy to buy the CD if it goes back that far and includes Thorney.  I'm hoping it might indicate whether the Cambridgeshire Archives has poor law records for that time frame that might shed light on my Moses Holloday, who had a pauper burial in Thorney in 1787.
Thanks,
Carolyn

Nottinghamshire / Will index?
« on: Thursday 20 June 19 10:14 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Can anyone tell me if there is a pre-1858 Nottinghamshire will index online? I am hoping a will exists for my John Raworth, who died in Eakring in 1805. The Nottinghamshire Archives charges 10 pounds just to look at the index and say yes or no, so if I can find one online, it would save me a lot of money!
Thanks, Carolyn

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Barnsley Grammar School 1867
« on: Wednesday 29 May 19 05:21 BST (UK)  »
Hello
In 1867, my Frederick Atkinson was a recipient of a Locke Scholarship to Barnsley Grammar School.  Can anyone please tell me if this is still standing and, if so, where? Was it known by this name, or was it called something else?  I am trying to locate a picture of it,
Thank you
Carolyn

« on: Sunday 05 August 18 00:57 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Does anyone have access to the hearth tax lists for Edgmond, who would be kind enough to do a look up, please? I'm interested in the name Podmore, specifically Edward Podmore of Cherington, but there may be others.
Thanks for any help,
Carolyn
