The Common Room / Newspaper search
« on: Friday 11 August 23 18:41 BST (UK)  »
I’m attempting to search newspapers on Find My Past.

Unfortunately the surname involved is Prince.

Even though I’m putting in Albert Prince I’m getting all results for Prince Albert rather than those with the surname Prince.  As you can imagine there’s a lot of them.

Is there anyway of excluding them? Or making it search the name more accurately?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Essex / Location of Cemetery
« on: Thursday 07 April 22 20:09 BST (UK)  »
I have a funeral Warley pre 1900, the church in question doesn’t have a grave yard attached and but the notice in the newspaper says ‘Brentwood Roman Catholic Cemetery’  but where would this it?

There is one in Woodham Road which opens in 1926 so not this one.  There appears to be a small cemetery next to what is now the Catholic Cathedral but this appears to small for general use.

I keep coming across references to it but no actual address, maps have been viewed but nothing is leaping out.  Maybe another set of eyes can spot it.

The Common Room / Sad place of birth

It’s those one things you see when you’re researching which will always stick in your mind.

Recently I was researching something on the 1861 Census.

A few lines above my relative was a child with initials only with his described place of birth as ‘In a railway carriage, does not know where’.

The Common Room / Funeral Records
« on: Tuesday 02 March 21 10:08 GMT (UK)  »
My question relates to when someone has a funeral service at a church but is buried in a local cemetery.

I know there will be a record of the burial at the cemetery but how or where would the service be recorded at the church?

Many thanks in advance.

The Stay Safe Board / Toilet Rolls Again
« on: Wednesday 06 January 21 12:09 GMT (UK)  »
I manage my parents online shopping account which they share with a couple of neighbours who are also shielding.  Today I attempted to put 2 x 4 loo rolls packs in their basket only to be told it was limited to 1 of this type.  So I thought ok I’ll put in a larger pack and they can share them out.  Not possible either.  All the larger packs showing as out of stock. Obviously shops are worrying about panic buying again.😔

The Stay Safe Board / Covid Vaccination
« on: Wednesday 09 December 20 10:25 GMT (UK)  »
I understand that the message to book appointments together with a code for the vaccine are being sent out via text message.  My parents both in their 80’s don’t have a phone they can text from, so how will they be contacted.  Has anyone else come across this problem.

Help

Advice required.

My daughter is going to visit national archive for some research for her degree.

How does she get a readers pass?

Also how does she request the documents she wishes to view?

Many thanks in advance
