Family History Beginners Board / Dodds of Bellingham
« on: Monday 26 June 23 19:20 BST (UK)  »
Hello, My family of Dodds come from in and around Bellingham, ie Wark I am just wondering if they were involved with the Border Reviers. Is there a database of court records or names of well known troublemakers!
They may have not been involved but I have Ridley surname too in my history which I believe they were involved in Border Rievers too.
I just wonder whether records would have been kept or have they disappeared?

Rumour has come down the family that Sir John Everett Millais Painting of The Princes in the Tower artist models were my relatives too and that one was a girl model! How can I find any records of this if possible. Thankyou

My Great Grandfather Matthew Philipson and his Father also Matthew Philipson and other family members formed a strike at Settlingstones Mine in Northumberland and the Philipsons were banned from working at the mine in future years. I have found information on a strike in 1939 but this was before this date as my Great Grandfather died in 1926.

« on: Saturday 13 January 18 13:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I have just received a copy of my Great Great Grandfathers Death Certifcate. His name was Thomas Allar who was a Weaver and lived in the registration district of Bethnal Green. He died in 1844 from the effects of drowning 6 days after immersion, I have the coroners first initial and surname, does any one know if there will be records for this. He lived and died in Old Castle Street, London, but I don’t think it was near the Thames, I just feel that this was a strange way to die.
