London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Wedding lookup help COMPLETED
« on: Wednesday 18 February 09 18:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi again

I am a bit stuck (thanks to a strange relative) looking for a wedding. The names i am looking for are James BEVINS and a female BREVINGTON. I know that they had a daughter in 1940 but there were also two sons so i dont know the exact year of marriage. Have done the usual searches but haven't had any luck. Could someone here possibly help?

The relative i have asked flatly refuses to tell me James Bevins' wife's first name. Has said that it is none of my business. Rather strange as all concerned are dead and i am in no way looking to unearth skeletons. I respect their wish though and rather than push would like to find the information out myself.

Thanks in advance

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1901 Census Look Up Request COMPLETED
« on: Sunday 15 February 09 19:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Can anyone help me with a census problem that i am having.
i am trying to find Louise Mann b. 1885 in Great Yarmouth Norfolk in the 1901 census. I have been able to find the rest of her family living at 11 Rudford Road in Deptford with all of Louise's siblings but there is no trace of Louise herself. She would have been about 16 years of age. Her parents were Charles Mann and Elizabeth Clarke.

The family transcription was hard enough to find as the family are transcribed as RANN and not Mann. Also her mothers name was listed on the census as Edith and not Elizabeth so you can see what it was so hard to find her.!

Anyway, all attempts and name variants on my part have so far failed so if anyone can shed any light i would be most appreciative.

I know that Louise Mann married Joseph Howard in 1904 so there is a slim chance that they are living together somewhere. I cant seem to find Joseph Howard either which is just as much of a mystery though Joseph could have been in the military reserves at the time.

Thanks in advance

Hi all again.

After agreeing to do some research for a friend and tracking down the Eaglestone name on the information that she gave me - it appears her information was wrong!!

I have been looking for a George Henry Eaglestone b. September qtr 1891. The closest I have come to finding him in the 1901 census is as an inmate at a school in Sutton. I have no way of knowing at the moment if he is the right one and have been waiting for his birth certificate to arrive?

Is there anyone that can look at the census for 1901 for me and see what they can turn up?

Millions of thanks as always!

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Help with a location
« on: Friday 16 November 07 21:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am helping a friend with some research and a location has come up in the census returns that i do not recognise and i wondered if anyone could help?
The location is Sailham?

I have checked on things like Multimap and streetmap but no location comes up and other searches have also drawn a blank.

Does anyone recognise this location and can they tell me where it is/was?

Many thanks

Hiya

Can anyone help with a lookup request as i have hit something of a brick wall and can't find the person I am looking for at all!!

My Great GRandfather was Joseph Howard and he was married to Louise Mann. They married in 1907. On the marriage certificate from Bermondsey, South London his father is listed as a Wiliam Howard who's occupation is given as 'Lead Worker'

Josephs age at marriage is given as 29 on the certificate which would make him born in abt 1877/1878. Unfortunately I do not know where he was born and anything else about his parents. The married couple lived at 4 willow grove, i assume (because of where they were married) somewhere in Bermondsey. A search on free BMD and the other ususal places has not revealed any Joseph Howard that i can see that might be the right one.

I dont think Joseph himself would show up in the census as i believe that he would have been on duty with the Royal West Kent Regiment who he was with in 1897 (Africa?) and later in life in WWI

Can anyone tell me how i might be able to find his birth record at all? This would solve a massive hole in our family history. I can supply more details of his marriage and his children if that might help anyone?

Many thanks in advance as always

Hi

I am having another go at trying to find a possible Harding marriage as it will confirm whether the rest of my line of Hardings is correct. I dont want to add it to my tree until i can confirm and i have hit a brick wall and need help!

My Great Grandfather James William Harding was born abt. 1854/1855 and died in 1936. He lived with Harriet Harriet Mary Fowler b.1868. She had a first marriage to a Joseph Sharp who passed away in 1899. In 1901 Harriet is shown in the census returns living on her own with her mother and her children.

When HArriet died in 1942 she was registered in death as Harriet Harding which implies that she and James William Harding though i cannot find a marriage.
Together they had five children the first of whom was born in 1903.

Can anyone help me find if there is in fact a marriage? I have checked the Free BMD index and www.findmypast.com but i have either missed it or is it simply not there.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

Armed Forces / Service death in Malta Lookup help
« on: Monday 07 May 07 00:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi there

Can anyone help with a relative that i am trying to find more about?

My Great Great Grandfather Thomas Brind was a soldier in the 14th (Buckinghamshire) regiment of foot. He enlisted in 1847 - 1849 and was posted to Ireland in 1850 where he met and married his wife Elizabeth. In 1853 the company departed for Malta where they were stationed.

I have managed to find out that Thomas died on the island of Malta as 'the direct results of injuries sustained in a charcoal fire in a small room'

Can anyone tell me where i can find more about the accident and his death record and also, if it still possible to find his service records.

Many thanks in advance.

Lisa
