Dublin / James J Conway born Dublin 1908
« on: Sunday 10 April 16 20:22 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I am trying to trace information on Joseph J Conway born 20 April 1908 in Dublin.
On his marriage in 1932 in North Yorkshire to Eleanor Lee, he is listed as Joseph.
He died in 1979 and his birth is recorded as 20 April 1908 also recorded as Joseph.  However, for his burial he is listed as Joseph JANE Conway possibly an error should be Joseph John ?

I have found a Joseph J on the 1911 census at 4 Fitzwilliam Street aged 3 with his father Thomas and mother Mary Nee Moore.  Also older siblings Thomas, Mary and John.

On the 1939 register, James is not recorded with his wife, I believe he is alreading serving in the Forces.  However there is a Christopher Conway residing there date of birth 1st March 1913.  Could this be the brother of James ? I know no more on Christopher.

Is there any records with James J Conway born 20 April 1908 and Christopher born 1st March 1913 in Dublin ? With the same parents ?

The family do state James was from the Sandymount area.

Any help or suggestions please.

Regards

Andy

Worcestershire / 1861 Census George Hudson/Hutson possibly Oldbury
« on: Saturday 25 July 15 09:15 BST (UK)  »
Hello

Hoping somebody can confirm the location of George Hudson/Hutson on the 1861 census he may have been in Oldbury or Kingswinford.

George was born 17 Oct 1834 in Dudley.  He married Mary Ann Smart on 27th November 1854 at the Parish Church, Langley.  Both residing then in 1854 at Birchyfield Lane, Oldbury. I am not aware of any children born  or that survived between 1854 and 1865.  Mary Ann was born 1836 in Dudley,

In 1871 the family are at Hinders Lane, Gloucestershire with their young family, their first born I know of was Elizabeth Ann born 1865 in Dudley.

Appreciate any help please.

Worcestershire / Hannah Dowler and Samuel Smart born in Worcestershire, England
« on: Saturday 25 July 15 08:52 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I am tracing my 4th x great grandmother Hannah Dowler born 1816 in Worcestershire. Parents I believe to be Samuel Dowler born abt 1795 in Dudley and Ann born 1796 in Dudley.

Hannah I believe married Samuel Smart on 5th April 1835 at Sedgley, Staffordshire. And is listed on the 1841 census at Upper Netherton, Dudley.

Samuel Smart born about 1811 in  Worcestershire, parents unknown.  I have contacted those researching Smart in this geographical area.  No replies yet

My 3 x great grandmother Mary Ann Smart was born in 1836 in Dudley, she went onto marry George Hudson.  Likewise, I have contacted all persons researching Hudson and Hutson

Any advice or information would be great.

Lanarkshire / Robert Johnston Born 1833 Glasgow
« on: Sunday 05 July 15 07:45 BST (UK)  »
Hello

Anybody give me pointers to where I can research records relating to a Robert Johnston Born 1833 Glasgow.  The earliest records I have for Robert is on the 1871 and 1881 census in Liverpool with his wife Mary.  I don't have his death certificate either. He is recorded as a seagoing engineer on the 1881 census. But not shown on the 1891 census.  His eldest daughter Elizabeth is listed on the census as born 1863 in Buckinghamshire.  His wife Mary maiden name unknown born in 1846 in Greenock on the census. His second child Robert born in Liverpool in 1868. No trace of marriage either.  I was unsure if this should have been posted in Lancashire too?

Thanking you all again.
