Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / My grandad as a toddler
« on: Saturday 05 September 09 14:54 BST (UK)  »
Ok, I agree this one is a shocker.  But can anything be done.  Photo has never been seen by my family before as it's been in an old album belonging to my grandad's sister's family.  It's a photograph of my late grandad when he was a little boy riding his billycart.  You can see the goat quite easily and it's at the old place called Kia Ora, Bakingboard near Singleton.

Thanks in anticipation,
Alison.

Hi.  I was wondering if anything can be done with this wedding photo please?  Maybe a colour, sharpen the image somehow and give it a new boarder?

The lady is my great aunt Mary Margaret (Mollie) Cantwell 1906~1969 and her husband William Mulholland 1910~1985.

Kind regards,
Alison.

Australia / Victoria: Bushfire Lost Photo Appeal {Disaster Helpsite}
« on: Tuesday 17 March 09 21:50 GMT (UK)  »
Dear Chatters,

Hi.  I only just saw this on the 'Today' show on TV's Channel 9 this morning... regarding the Disaster Help Site online.  Two lovely ladies have started this project in which they are calling for all relatives, friends, old neighbours, school friends etc. outside of the disaster zone to scan and upload photos or mail to them.  They will then sort, collate and create a disc of these images for each person who has registered to participate.  Confidential participation is assured.

A very worthwhile cause indeed.

Australia / Victoria - Effect of 'Black Saturday' upon genealogy
« on: Wednesday 18 February 09 02:45 GMT (UK)  »
Dear RootsChatters,

Hi.  Being a Queenslander we have been kept informed by all the media about Black Saturday and the continued fires in Victoria.  It has been devastating to watch all the images, and hear the emotional stories.   It's frightening to read that the fires were similar to 500 Hiroshima bombs simultaneously.

Everyone is doing as much as they can to fund-raise.  And with continued support everyone will all come through it, but I am sure it will take many years.

I was wondering what effect the bush fires has had on all the local Family History Groups of Victoria, not to mention the various cemeteries etc.

God Bless,
Alison.

Australia / State Records NSW help pls.
« on: Saturday 13 December 08 22:39 GMT (UK)  »
Dear Chatters, Hi.  I've been to the State Records Office NSW online many times, but I can't seem to find passenger listing for the ship 'Royal Consort' arriving NSW 9 Nov 1840.

Googling this phrase reveals a website reply at rootsweb mail listings which states the ship carried 227 Bounty Migrants, details of which are to be found on NSW State Records Film 1317.

A little help please if poss.  I'm looking for my 3g grandparents Robert HAYES born 25/2/1818 Armagh, Ireland died Australia and his wife Mary Anne nee MILLS born 6/7/1817 Clones, Ireland.  They had five children that we know of possibly more, first child here Sarah born 1842 Maitland NSW.

Thanks so much,
Alison
