I've discovered 2 relatives who are either twins, or the same person.

Mary Jane Hornsby (born October 21st 1874, Cork) daughter to Colour Sergeant Joseph Hornsby and Martha Francis Mcdowell. I have the Irish Civil Group Registration ID is 8520585, but no death records.
Adelina Hornsby (died 10th September 1878 in Camp Muntaznuggar, Fyzabad, Andhra Pradesh, India) daughter of Sergeant Major Joseph Hornsby 1st/25 KOB on death information but no birth details.
Death information states she was 3 and 11/12 years, same birth as Mary Jane?
The parents also had an earlier daughter Mary born in Preston in 1866 who married.

Could this be a mishearing of a name when the details were taken down?

I'm searching for more information on my 2nd great gm Martha Francis McDowell. According to the Census of 1871 her birthplace is Birmingham, Warwickshire, Married 1870 in Athlone Ireland to Joseph Hornsby and died in India 1878 • Fyzabad, Bengal. Her Father John was present at the marriage. Any further info would help.
I can't find any records of her birth in Birmingham, wondering if it was Birr in Ireland as her father is listed as Superintendent for Constabulary on the marriage certificate.

Thanks

Hi,
I feel it's all to easy to wander off down the wrong family line, so I'm hoping someone might just be able to confirm a couple of details.

My 3x great-grandfather John Hornsby
b 7 MAY 1797 Longbenton, Northumberland, England
d APRIL 1854 Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland
married a Sarah Walton (b 1802) of Alston, Cumbria in 1827.

It's his father, Thomas and mother, Elizabeth (nee Turner) that I can't confirm back beyond. Does anyone have them in their tree or have information about them?
Many thanks in advance
