Hi,

Am trying to work out the exact Date of Birth for what would be my 2x great-grandfather.  Can make out August 1860 but can't make out the exact date - hopefully birth certificate is attached.  Also,  trying to make out what the occupation of his father is, can't seem to read it properly.

Many thanks,

Oli

Hi all,

Hope this is the right area to ask.  My dad & I are going through some of grandfather's old photos, letters etc.  Amongst his things was a letter to my great-grandmother congratulating her on the birth of my grandfather from a cousin Frank & looks like a cousin Janet (but no surname).  We're struggling to match the first names to anyone on my tree.

There is an address (101 Southampton Avenue, Berkeley, California) on the letter plus a date (15th October 1925) so was wondering if there's a way of finding out a full name of who was living there at the time?

Many thanks,

Oli

Hi,

Trying to find a relative (name in subject) on behalf of my cousin.  Trying to find the 1939 record for him - meant to be  living around the Strand (London) at that time.

World War Two / War Medals
« on: Tuesday 29 March 22 09:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,

My grandfather was meant to have received the France and Germany Star and the War Medal 1939-1945.  Is there anywhere I can look to confirm that he got these (or didn't)? If he got these medals, is there a way of tracing what happened to them (ie. trying to find if they were sold or anything like that).

Thanks,

Oli

United States of America / Henry Austin Miller & parents
« on: Sunday 09 January 22 12:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm trying to find more info on my 4x Great-grandfather, Henry Austin Miller, & his parents (my 5x great-grandparents).  Henry Austin was born 1st May 1807 in South Carolina I believe, married a Nancy Sears in Monroe, Indiana on 5th August 1830 & died 11th September 1882 in Oregon.  All I know about his parents is that his father was apparently called John.  Is there I can find and order a birth or marriage certificate or find anything else that will give more info on Henry Austin's parents?

Thanks,

Oli

London and Middlesex / Electoral Roll / Death Certificate
« on: Wednesday 20 October 21 16:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Hope this is the right area to ask.  What's the latest electoral roll one can see in the library etc?  I'm trying to work out whether the informant on my grandfather's death certificate (from 1988) could have possibly been a partner/girlfriend/lived with him or whether she was someone working at the hospital he died at.

Many thanks,

Oli

Wales / Bertha Lloyd

Hi,

I'm trying to pin down an exact date & place of birth for my Great-Grandmother, Bertha Lloyd. The 1891 census & her marriage certificate suggest she was born in 1883 & in Llandrindod to Ezekiel Lloyd & Mary (not sure of her mother's maiden name).  However, I'm struggling to pick anything up on a search on Ancestry.

World War Two / Arthur Lloyd Brace WW2/Battle of Arnhem
« on: Thursday 29 July 21 13:02 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm trying to find out more on my biological grandfather & if he fought at the Battle of Arnhem.  His niece (my first cousin once removed) said he had but am struggling to see anything mentioned in his war records though quite a few bits I'm struggling to read due to the handwriting.  Would this be something that would have been mentioned in his records?  Are there any ways of finding out if he fought at the Battle of Arnhem?
