Yorkshire (West Riding) / My Barnsley Family
« on: Tuesday 29 January 08 19:01 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone as any idea why my  Chappell family should be in France in the early 1860's.I have the parents birth and details of their marraige and the 1841 and 1851 census .Their 4 eldest children were born between 1847 and 1857 in Barnsley Yorkshire the 3 youngest children were all born in France between 1859 and 1866 by the 1871 census they are back in Barnsley and the head of the family is the mother and she is a widow. I have the rest of the census and have followed the family upto them getting married so I'm not asking anyone to search the census. The head of the family was a power loom weaver is this why they went abroad  ? as anybody else  had this happen in their family tree or does anybody know how i can search for them in France.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / william henry sanderson
« on: Tuesday 18 July 06 12:55 BST (UK)  »
I am helping a friend do his family tree and keep hitting brick walls. I have only been able to find the family on the 1901 census and the 1881 census.
1901 census
William h Sanderson born 1855 in Goole
Elizabeth Sanderson born 1860 in Hook
plus 3 children
all living at 52 South street Goole

1881
Elizabeth a Sanderson wife
Hannah h Walker boarder
living at Capston street Hook

I have seen the marriage certificate they married march 10th 1879
Elizabeth a Brooks nee Wilson ( young widow) fathers name John Wilson

William h Sanderson fathers name John Sanderson

I have looked at all the other census and can't find them the nearest i found was in the 1861 and 1871 census a Annie Elizabeth Wilson born 1860 in Hook as you see the names are the opposite way round but the birth year and place are spot on. there is no fathers name in the census. I haven't been able to match a William with a father John
If there is anybody who can give me a tiny hint it will be very much appreciated.
